Legally Blonde: The Musical to Air on MTV This Saturday
Legally Blonde: The Musical will air on MTV this Saturday at 1pm Eastern. This is the first time a Broadway show that is still in its first, pre-tour run on Broadway has been broadcast on national TV. It will run for 3 hours.

Well, to the best of my knowledge, there is no thread dedicated to "Still-running Broadway musicals being broadcast on television". So you're allowed to start one!AwallaceUNC wrote:(This seems like something that would already be posted here, but several searches didn't turn up anything. But we do have a nice thread that was created on May 7, 2007 by numba1lostboy entitled OMIGOD! Legally Blonde: The Musical.

Anyway, I tried listening to one of the songs on youtube, and it was just so...bubbly, that I don't think I could stomach an entire musical. I'll likely just set the VCR (no DVR in the Scaps house just yet, boo!) and set it aside, then forget about it for a few weeks, until I need to set the VCR again, only to find it on the tape and wondering, "Why the heck did I want to tape this?".
Also, I'll need to figure out which channel is MTV. I haven't watched it in years, and our cable provider likes to change channels every few years (back in 1994 the Disney Channel was 34, then in 1998 they moved it to 54, then in 2001 it was 35, and it's been there ever since while other channels have changed).

I wondered the same thing, but with the success it has showed so far, I think it might even help ticket sales. People might catch bits and pieces of the airing, or even the whole thing and grow more interestd in seeing the show on stage.Anthony wrote:Hmmm.... a broadway show on TV, before its pre-tour run. I don't know if I like this idea or not. Doesn't anyone think that this might hurt overall ticket sales for the show?

Well, seeing a concert on TV is different from being there, so watching a Broadway show on TV is bound to be different than actually seeing the show in person...my guess is that a) it probably will only get younger people interested in the Broadway show, and b) a lot of older Broadway fans probably don't watch MTV.

Well, I would certainly not go as far to say that it's "the best musical ever", but it certainly is really good fluff with a talented cast.
But, my God, those girls from "The Hills" who hosted? Jeez! They could have at least TRIED to look at the camera instead of reading the cue cards. Crap.

I set this to DVR and it started to record but apparently something happened and it didn't record.
