Will (Disney) Region 2 (Germany) DVD's play in Australia?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me whether Disney Region 2 DVD's also play on Australia Region coded machines?

I want to send a copy of the fabulous German Disney Jungle Book Collectors set (with the book!) and I want to make sure it will play on their DVD player with no trouble.

Generally speaking, Australian players are encoded to be played as Region 4. So the general answer is no.

However...

Many European discs are dual encoded for Region 2/4. It may not be guaranteed, but you'll often find it is the case.

Further, Google your player and model number. You may find that your player is either multi-region or can be made so with a simple code.

One other thing to be careful of, even if the feature is in English, you may find that some supplements may not be, or may have burnt in subtitles or something like that.

There is, however, a UK Edition with a Gift-set.
