Lion King 3?

Post by spiritednala »

I am really wanting to know if anybody has heard of rumors concerning "The Lion King three" Maybe somebody knows if it is in the making of production yet? Or even if there will be one? Now that they have everybody excited for The Lion King 1 1/2 which was released just yeseterday, and The Lion King: Simbas Pride Special Edition.....don't you think they should consider a third to end the series of sequels? I mean theres: The Lion King, then you have The Lion King 1 1/2 and of course The Lion King: Simbas Pride shouldn't there be a Lion King 3? Just thought It would be something to think about.

My guess is that there won't be one. The Lion King II sort of brought everything to a close, and ended with the words "The End" (unlike the other two sequels). That's seemingly why when Disney wanted to do another sequel, they had to place it before TLK II - thus, The Lion King 1 1/2.

Also, lately, Disneys been advertising the re-release of TLKII using phrases like "the circle of life is completed" and "complete your Lion King Trilogy". It makes it all look like the sequels for TLK are over.

But you never know. If they decide later on that they want to milk the series some more, theres nothing stopping them.

If they did make a Lion King Three, there'll be a lot of confusion because the Lion King 1 1/2 is Lion King III outside of the USA.

I say leave it alone. I'm not one to think that suquels can "ruin" a movie, but that doesn't mean the sequel itself would be any good. I think it's creatively tapped, but I guess they could prove me wrong. But my guess is that Lion King III would be either unrelated to the original, or another Cinderella II.

I have to agree with Jack on this one, I think they're done. There's a certian time limit you have in which to make sequels before it's just been too long for any sequel to really work. Personally, I think they pushed it wih 1.5 and while that worked I seriously doubt that anything further will come out good. (They have disregarded the time limit multiple times before, especially with the cheapquels to the Walt-era stuff) but I think here they're going to honor it. And as Jack mentioned, if you look at the Simba's Pride stuff with TLK1.5 (the picture on the back of the insert, the trailer, etc.), they're leaning on advertising it with the angle that the circle is complete and encouraging us the audience to complete our trilogy sets. So I think a fourth movie is highly unlikely.

Plus, Simba's Pride ended with a feeling of closure. If a fourth movie is made, the only thing that it could concivably do is clear up the plot holes with flashback and a new wraparound. But I really do think they're done.

A spinoff of sorts (something in the vein of the Timon & Pumbaa TV show) is possible, but also unlikely.

Although, in response to concerns about numbering confusion: If they ever were to make it, all they'd have to do is call it TLK3 in the US and TLK4 elsewhere.

If Eisner is in charge, it'll end when the circle of "money" is completed.

I don't want another "Lion King" movie. The first film was supposed to be the end because the circle of life had swung back around. I didn't like "Lion King 2" for many reasons. The biggest one is that they made Simba's child, which was clearly a boy due to the yellow fur, into a girl, but other things like the poor quality of animation and the bad music, with the exception of "He Lives In You" made it even worse. However, I loved "Lion King 1 and 1/2." It didn't continue the story, but told a different side in a creative way. I found the scenes where Timon and Pumbaa cause certain elements from the first film to happen humorous, but felt Disney went a bit too far with it, like having Pumbaa's fart cause the animals to bow for baby Simba.

Isn't TLK 1.5 technically TLK 3 anyways? Hey Stitch, I'll take you to get TLK 1 and 2 if you want. I have a license, I can drive ya. :)
Dragon, not lizard. I don't do that tongue thing.

Lilo: I'm not touching you!
