Sleeping Beauty is the first platinum edition Blu-Ray to get released, and it will release at the fall of 2008.
Even though I've already got this movie on DVD, I'll definitely be buying it again for the unique HD experience, infact I'll be getting all the Platinum Edition Blu-ray discs once they get re-released after 2008.
So I guess the purpose of this poll, is to see which movie is going to be the most popular Blu-ray platinum release. PLS vote !
(If your going to get all the blu-ray platinum discs, pls tick on all of the movies.)
If I were to pick a Disney movie I think I'd like to see in HD the most, it would be The Three Caballeros. I don't know why, apart from the "Baia" ballad moment. A gorgeous scene that never looked good enough on VHS.
Other than the platinum range, I'd really like to see the 3D version of The Nightmare Before Christmas in HD.
Also if they were to re-release Hercules, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and The Black Cauldron in Blu-Rays count them on my Blu-Ray collection !
Since I already have a Blu-Ray player, I watch all my Disney favorites in near-HD quality all the time and the one that really stands out for me is "101 Dalmations". Running closely behind that film would be "The Lion King", "Sleeping Beauty", and "Aladdin". The poorest upgrade and I believe it is because of its age is "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs".
Also my 'bootleg' copy of "Song of the South" (purchased from one of those advertisers here on UD) looks fantastic in the near-HD upgrade.
The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!

Are you planning on getting "Sleeping Beauty" in Blu-Ray (and the other animated classics when they come on Blu-Ray), dvdjunkie? Or are you happy enough with the normal DVDs on your Blu-Ray player?
I don't have a Blu-Ray player or a high-def TV or anything, so I'm not planning on getting Blu-Ray discs anytime soon, especially if normal DVDs play on Blu-Ray players (if I ever upgrade). But, I'd love to see "The Black Cauldron" in high definition...that'd be cool!
I've already got many of my favourite movies on Blu-ray even though I already own them on DVD, but I really enjoy them more just because of the picture quality.

Do you think you'll ever watch the movies on those plain old DVDs again? I mean, I'm sure the bonus features may be different from the Blu-Ray releases & that'd be reason enough to keep them, but do you think that it was worth they money to upgrade- how much of a difference in picture quality is there?

I recently found out that Sony are releasing Blu-Ray players that can upgrade normal DVDs to FULL HD (1080p), so if I get that maybe I won't have to buy my favourite Disney movies again in a new format.
DVDs have about 500p , if you see them on a normal Blu-ray player, they'll turn into about 700p ( Near HD ). 1080p and 500p is a big diffrence when it comes to the picture quality, I sometimes buy Blu-Ray movies of films I know I won't like, but for the sake of the reselotion, which is so beautiful that it can make you forget about the movie's bad plot and just enjoy what your'e seeing ! But I don't advise anyone to buy a blu-ray player this year though, you guys should defenitly wait till Sony or any other company releases that Blu-ray player that converts 700p-1080p, then you guys can watch all your exsisting dvds in Blu-Ray resoloution, It's bound to release before Sleeping Beauty gets out !
All Blu-ray and HD DVD players can upscale DVDs to 1080p already. However since DVDs are 480i/p you still will get a better picture with Blu-ray and HD DVD if the High Def transfer is good. There are some titles on Blu-ray and HD DVD that look no better than a upscaled DVD because of poor transfers. The 720p to 1080p jump depends on a few things. Mainly the size of your screen, and how close you are sitting to it.
Here is a pretty good chart that shows screen size and TV resolutions.
As far as the Disney Blu-rays... I'm planning to get a PS3 now, but it will be sometime in the first quarter of 2008. Not sure if I will upgrade all of my Disney DVDs (Planning to upgrade the Pirates of the Caribbean films), but I will buy new releases and titles I don't have on Blu-ray.
I didn't expect Fantasia to be the most voted, I thought it would be Beauty & the Beast since I'd really like to watch it in HD the most !
But I guess there's some really good scenes in Fantasia that would be ideal to watch in 1080p resolution !

Well, even though it makes sense because Fantasia is animation set to music, and so the visuals would be very vocused on, I think a lot of people are votig for it just because it's not out yet!
How ever, I would want to see my favorite film, Cinderella on Blu-Ray in HD because of the restoration it got for DVD. That restoration made the outlines thinner and even some animated effects looked fainter or a percentage disappeared! So in HD, if they don't re-do the restoration from scratch, then maybe the very fine picture will let me see the outlnes and special effects more, because they have partly disappeared.
