Filipino Americans want apology from ABC and DH

Is it just me or are people way oversensitive these days. I don't know why everyone complains. Worst tings have been said on TV and I don't think it was supposed to offend. If people don't like it Don't Watch!

Well, I guess people should just take this as being something a character said. And don't most companies and networks run those disclaimers constantly about "the views expressed by... don't necessarily reflect those of (so and so)'s parent company or affiliates"?

I voted that it was mean. Out of context, just reading the line, makes it seem worse than it was (Teri's character was just worried), but it still was mean.

The link that ZOOMBOOM0688 provided has been updated- ABC has apologized, and they may edit the episode.

This is hard- I'm not one for Disney editing their product- they just shouldn't have included the line to begin with.

This is ridiculous! Why edit the episode? Shows take jabs at pretty much everyone, and most groups have always understood that it should be taken lightheartedly, why cave in to those few that won't?

There definitely over-reacting, it's stupid how a 30-min T.V show can inspire controversy, when more significant world events are supposed to be focused on and are yet ignored.

I'm not Filipino (Phillipino?), so I won't say they are or aren't making too much of a big deal out of it. But yes it is true that there are bigger issues to focus on that get ignored when someone's enraged over a 'human interest' type thing.

You were right the first time.

As one of UD's resident Filipinos, I read the article and the line in question. I felt bit offended by the remark, even within the context of the scene (a woman afraid of menopause, so she questions her doctor's creditials). I mean, we all know that Susan can say the wrong thing at the wrong time, but what she said was just...unnecessary. She could have just said "Can I check those diplomas because I want to make sure that they're not from some internet course". It makes me feel bad for the aunts and uncles I know on both sides of my family (as well as my mother) who are doctors or nurses. Our family doctor (a Filipino) got her degree in the Philippines and she's been in the practice for years.

I can understand how the line can be considered "funny", as it makes note on Americans' small-mindedness regarding what type of education is a "good" and "proper" education. But even so, it's still insulting regardless what kind of context the scene was in.

As a semi-regular viewer of DH, I can casually toss the remark aside as just another of Susan's "open mouth, insert foot" sayings. But given the high commercial success that the show is, I can guarantee that when this episode airs in the Philippines (if they air it with the line intact), there will be as many angry viewers as there are amused ones.

I didn't think the line was funny (I didn't even notice she said Phillipines untill all this happened) BUT I AM a minority and I feel like everything is a big deal when it offends minorities. If there is a WHITE TRASH joke or something its funny and noone makes a big deal. or a straight person joke but a GAY one is offensive or religion IF a company says Happy Hanukah its okay but MERRY CHRISTMAS is offensive

GET A LIFE PEOPLE....ALSO by making controversy you help support the "offensive" thing.

PS. ABC it's fine that you said SORRY BUT don't edit the episode!!!!NOW ALL THE DVD LOVERS ARE GOING TO HAVE A HEARTATTACK FOR NOT HAVING THAT 5sec of the episode.

Yes, some people may be overacting, but not because it was a joke, which is beside the point.

Private organizations have no responsibility to any person or group to apologize for what they air on t.v. People have the responsibility and right to watch what they want on t.v.
