I just watched Snow White in the cinema!

I know it doesn't seem like a big deal to many of the people here, but it was a big deal to me! I mean it's Walt's 1st! It hasn't been played in Greece for years and years -I think the last time was before I was born- and the emotions and the whole atmosphere was just great, so hard to describe! It was played during a film festival that takes place in Athens this period called "Premiere Nights", where new films are presented to the audience plus some old films that are included as well for some reason. For Snow White it was the fact that it will soon be 70 years since the first time it was presented to the audience, back in 1937.
The experience was undescribable: I was more than excited I was watching Snow White on silver screen! The film was not dubbed, it was in English which was much appreciated. I couldn't believe I could hear people crying when Snow White was in the glass coffin! In the end, evryone applaused. I was making a huge effort not to cry, believe me. It SO reminded me of the descriptions that I've read about the film's premiere in 1937. To me, it was like watching the film for the very first time. You've got a chance like that once in a lifetime. The innocence isn't lost. The magic still lives. And as the New York Times of that time said, "Thank you very much Mr. Disney".

The first time I saw Snow White was in the cinema, and I remember jumping when the Witch showed her face for the first time. I really hope they show Fantasia in cinemas again soon; I've never seen it on the big screen and it must be quite impressive.

I know how you feel!! I was lucky enough to get my movie theatre to screen The Little Mermaid last year, and it was AMAZING!!

Wow! I cannot believe this, I've never heard of "Snow White" on the big screen, the last one was shown was the 1993 reissue. I guess they showed up in Greece for theatrical showing. That might be a surprise.

I remember the first time I saw "Pinocchio" since I was an infant, it brings a tear to my eyes. That was the first movie I saw in a local cinema here in NYC. "Pinocchio" brings back memories. I also remember seeing "The Small One" which was right before "Pinocchio", it was a true holiday classic.

I remember my babysitter taking me and a gaggle of kids (including my 6 year old self) seeing Snow White in Theaters back in 1993 I guess it was... Anyway I don't remember seeing the film or what my reaction was to it....... But I remember the babysitter picked that movie Snow White....
And I remember seeing the poster that was advertising Snow White... Outside the theater and my babysitter telling us we will see snow white...

My explanation for me not being able to remember actually watching the Snow white in the theater is..... I was 6... it was 14 years ago and I can barely remember yesterday... with all the things that have happened after that... e.g. Meet Jay Leno, Roy E. Disney, Ed Asner etc... either that or perhaps something happened in the theater that made me surpress that memory..(boy this sounds like an unmade Kingdom Hearts storyline...... ) all but getting ready to go and being outside the theater and viewing the poster is as plain as day to me....everything else is a blank.....

It's an excellent idea to show the older films now and then.

Disney did that with CINDERELLA 2 years ago in LA, CA at its ElCapitan theater, to generally packed houses. Why not do it elsewhere too?

Yeah, I think they should show old films more often. Because these films never did, or will ever look old. I mean I knew it, but yestereday I realized it even more. Especially during the forest scene where everything seems scary or the witch's transformation scene my breath was taken away. It's totally crazy I've seen this film so many times, yet I was thrilled more than ever. Now if only they'd show Cinderella next year! I tell ya, a cinematic experience is nothing like watching the film on your tv screen, even if the film is familiar to you. Try watch a film you really like in the cinema and you'll love it all over again, more passionately. And it's not only the film... you can see how other people react, see the faces of those who have so much in common with you, share your emotions. Pure magic!

I wish there were things such as " Classic movie Theatres "
that show old movies on the big screen like Snow White, Gone with the Wind, and the Wizard of Oz, no matter which decade were in.
But I guess the majority of movie-goers like to watch the oldies at home in their sofa !

But I read this article about Disney investing on re-releasing their 2D movies in Disney Digital 3D (their not re-animating the 2D movies to make them CGI, there's a new thechnology their experimenting on !), they are currently working on Dumbo, and if the movie attracts a lot of movie goers, they'll probably release more classic Disney movies in 3D !!
The article was written in 2005, maybe disney has changed it's plans though, but I hope not since I really want to experiance my all-time favourite films in 3D at the movies.

id love to see sleeping beauty on the big screen in all the widescreen glory, and seeing that and pocahontas in disney 3d...i cant wait!
