Walt Disney Classics on Blu-Ray

Post by JaceDisney91 »

Instincts tell me this subject might have already been discussed (if so, admins and moderators can close this thread if they want, I really don't mind) but in case it hasen't, I really wanted to ask out of pure curiosity.

Which animated movies from the Walt Disney Classics range has been confirmed for release on Blu-Ray and when will they be released? I know that Sleeping Beauty has been confirmed for release onto Blu-Ray but which others have been confirmed?

Over to you! :)

Okay then, sorry about that.

But hey, who knows, maybe this could be a thread to be used for any future confirmations of Walt Disney Classic animated films onto Blu-Ray! Or maybe that idea's just a little bit too far-fetched.

Sleeping Beauty is the only one that I know of... so far.

I think a lot will depend on the success of Blu-ray in 2008. As soon as the players and discs start selling better we will see more titles available.

The future is BLU!

Post by MattDean »

:) If memory serves me correct, if you venture into the Sneak Peaks section of the Peter Pan Platinum DVD, at the end of the ad for Disney Blu-Ray (think it's on the next page) it lists Lion king, Aladdin and Little Mermaid among other major Disney classic animation titles as Coming Soon! My guess is Disney may well do what they did initially with DVD and release a select number of recently released animated titles on the Blu format to raise interest/awareness and boost sales. I think it would make bad business sense for Disney to wait years before releasing certain recently discontinued titles on blu because by the time it's their turn to be re-released there may well be yet another format on the market. Let's just hope they don't price themselves out of the market like they did with their limited edition DVDs.

So, if I am right and this is only my opinion...the future is a definite shade of BLU!

Well, I would have thought that Ariel & friends would be on the cover, but a red X is pretty, too, I guess.

I wonder why it does that, maybe TinyPic is better.

That's a cool cover!

I'm still undecided in the format war (mostly because of the high price, I want to see what wins) but with Blu Ray movie prices lower right now (Asda and, surprisingly Game Station have fantastic prices) I am thinking about picking up some Disney discs now rather than waiting until I've got a player as I know how rare and expensive the early DVD releases became.

Aladdin and The Little Mermaid (and Beauty and the Beast) would make me just go out and buy a player no matter how broke I was!
