Fun at Chef Mickey's

Post by blackcauldron85 »

We have some family visiting, and we went to Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary for breakfast yesterday. It's a character meal, and you can meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, and Goofy. Whenever I go to the parks, I always bring a stuffed animal (or two), just because it's fun. I brought a Daisy Duck plush with me yesterday. After we had already met all the characters, I said hi to Goofy as he was walking past me, and he saw my Daisy Duck plush. He got sad, and then sat on the floor in front of the buffet station and cried. I tried to console him, but it was hard. I told him to turn his frown upside down (and did the motions), and at first he wouldn't, but then he did the motions. But he still seemed sad. I didn't really know what to do. I had told him that I had a Goofy in the car (which was true), but he didn't want to believe it. Eventually, he cheered up, though.

It was one of the coolest things ever, though, to have that one-on-one interaction with Goofy! If my uncle-in-law emails us the pictures, I'll post them here!

Glad you had a good time! :D I went there last September for breakfast since we were staying at the hotel. Pluto is my favourite there, but the funniest thing was seeing one of the characters (I don't remember which one) try to get into the highchair for the table next to us. (Of course he didn't fit).

Btw, Blackcauldron85 have you been to Akershus Royal banquet Hall? (I'm going there in September and i just wanted to know your opinion).

Cool! the last time I was at Chef Mickeys it was at the boardwalk stil! We went for dinner one night. I want to go back now because I hear they have Mickey ravioli! Who wouldn't want some of that? I'm glad you enjoyed breakfast. The only breakfast we have planned is at Kona Cafe because I must try the Tonga Toast I hear everyone talking about. I may break down eventually and change it to 'Ohana's though because I love Stitch so much!

We were supposed to go there for my birthday earlier this year, but I was sick. :( So, let me know how it is when you go!!! The only thing I know about it, besides having Norwegian food, is that you meet Ariel when you first go in.

Thanks, Mike! It was fun! Myself and some family were about ready to go into the Backlot Tour, and a cast member asked if we'd like to participate, so my cousin-in-law, 2 of his friends, and myself were chosen- I was soooo happy! :)

You are very welcome. I love looking at other people's WDW pictures. You are so lucky that you got picked.

Wow, Amy, those Goofy pictures are truly priceless. Now that's what I call Disney Magic. Goofy sulking on the floor had me cracking up.

Thanks, you guys! It was a really fun day!

(And, FYI, in the second picture, I'm not picking my nose, but I'm telling Goofy [and motioning] to turn his frown upside down into a smile...)

Well since you asked Amy about Akershus I'll tell you about it.

The restaurant was very nice and much like Cinderella's Royal Table in appearence (except it's based off a real castle in Norway). You fist go in to meet Belle in the lobby (her yellow dress is too wide to go around the tables) and then I met Aurora, Ariel (in her evning dress, which was blue and not pink, just like Auraora's dress is pink and not blue), Cinderella and Alice (who was the best). The service awas also great. The food is probably the best of any character meal. You start with a buffet of cheeses, meats, salad seafood etc. beofre ordering an entree. The dessert was best, with a caffeen cheesecake, rice cake with rasberry sauce and a white chocolate cake (which was the best part of the meal). It's much easier to get into than Cinderella's Royal table, and it costs less, so i think I may go back there the next time i go.
