Two new Comedy Favorites Collections with new Transfers

The Arnold Schwarzenegger and John Candy Comedy Collections were released last week. For the first time Kindergarten Cop and Twins get Anamorphic Widescreen transfers. Also on the John Candy Collection The Great Outdoors gets a new Anamorphic Transfer (the old DVD was Non-Anamorphic).

The sets are fairly cheap as well. Both were around $13 at Wal-Mart. I was planning to get the Arnold set anyway, but since the John Candy set also has a new version of The Great Outdoors I will be upgraded my old Non-Anamorphic disc as well.

I know some people have been waiting awhile for a few of these movies to get Widescreen releases.

Never heard of Going Berserk. So, if only they would just put Kindergarten Cop, Twins, Uncle Buck, and The Great Outdoors together, I'd be happier than a bump on a log. It sounds like Universal just extending their current Triple Features line. Though Paramount and I think DreamWorks have jumped onto the bandwagon as well with Double and Triple Features too. But this is Universal's handywork. What a dodgy studio Universal has become...

Yeah I could do without Junior on the Arnold set. I don't think I've seen Going Beserk at all. Anyway I haven't picked these up yet, but Uncle Buck is supposed to have a new transfer as well. The old DVD was Anamorphic, so maybe this one is just cleaned up or something.

It seems like Universal is "sneaking" in new transfers or Widescreen transfers for a lot of their catalog titles with these collections. I know the Michael J. Fox set had a new Anamorphic transfer for Secret of My Success.
