Actually Julian Carter you have never angered me beforeJulian Carter wrote:Oh Disney Villian, I never fail to anger you.![]()
Hope you're not too mad at me. Remember the time when I was criticising "Enchanted Tales" for some other reason? (don't remember what) And you nearly blew your top

Hmm,from her reviews it seems that Renata Joy dosn't like the Disney Princesses so i don't know if she's the right person to wirte reviews on those DVDs (maybe she does like them but still).Julian Carter wrote:Well, that's really nice of you DV.But now I guess it's time to admit that no, I have not seen Enchanted Tales.
Blame Renata Joy for biasing me against the film!

Renata's actually a big Disney Princess fan, and the fact that she's such a big fan is what makes her so critical of the Princess DVDs. She even says as much in the conclusion of her Enchanted Tales review:
For those of you curious about the film, someone has posted the film(s) on YouTube. I won't link to it here just to be safe, but just type in "Disney Princess Enchanted Tales" and sort the results by date added.Renata wrote:Those who have read this and my past reviews probably think that I don't like the Disney Princesses at all and wonder why such a hater is allowed to repeatedly cover the latest additions to their DVD line. However, a true aficionado is capable of recognizing when something is amiss, and that is the case here. It is hard to praise a pairing of two half-hour "movies", created with standards not much higher than those of a Saturday morning cartoon, that are being marketed as a full-length movie.

So just because people had low expectations of the animation in this and because those low expectations were met that makes it satisfactory? It doesn't matter how you look at it, the fact is this "film" has cheap off model animation which is stiff, over exaggerated and frantic.Disney Villain wrote:I don't understand why people were expecting better animation. Did anyone honestly think that the animation would be cinema worthy, or anywhere near the great animation that Cinderella III had? I know I didn’t. This was exactly what I expected....budgeted animation superior to Cinderella/Hunchback 2, with songs written for little children. I've been reading allot of reviews, including the one on this site, where people complain about off-model characters and bad animation. What did you honestly expect? Really it makes no sense to me why people think it should have been better.
Admittedly the Aladdin segment probably has better animation than the Aladdin TV series. But that's not really saying much.
And whilst the animation in Cinderella II was of a higher quality than most direct to video sequels, It's still not good enough to have the word "great" thrown around!
Yet the rest of the world acknowledges the evil it brings.DisneyVillain wrote:Princess fans are lucky they got this effort at all.
It quite obviously isDisneyVillain wrote:To call it crap Julian Carter is bold. It is not crap.
I honestly don't know whether to feel sorry for them or have a social worker sent to their houseDisneyVillain wrote:Disney actually put effort into something instead of stringing consumers along. The age group the film is marketed to loves the film. All my little cousins have watched the film numerous times. They know all the words to all the songs, and like seeing the characters again, instead of just seeing them in sing-a-long clips.
Crap is not strong enough a word.DisneyVillain wrote:But don't call it crap…look at the facts, watch it for yourself. You may not like it at all, you’re entitled to your opinion, but Crap is a strong word.
In the same way a fat middle aged balding man puts on a wig and his wife's dress climbs on stage and sings a selection of songs from Cabaret is an homage to Liza Minelli.DisneyVillain wrote:Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams pays respect to the original films with its backgrounds and animation.
The story is wafer thin and predictable. It is full of dialogue, and humor which is about as far removed from the originals as possible. How is someone bending over, splitting their pants and showing colourful underwear paying respect to the original Sleeping Beauty? A gallery exhibition of the original films art would be paying homage, a TV special about it would be paying homage.
I honestly was expecting to see Aurora pull up in a pink convertible and say "Like, forget this work stuff, I'm totally like going shopping!"
And what the hell was with all the cartoony sound effects during the SB segment? Yeah, that really captures the feel of the original.
This film had one aim, to make maximum profit with minimum expense.
This film is trash.
In fact, no. This film is the middle aged, cross dressing, wig wearing, "Farewell Mein Liebe Herr" singing, Liza Minnelli impersonating husband of trash.

ichabod, we each have our own opinions of the film. I will end it there. You think one way, and I think another...that's fine, we are all entitled to our opinions. I will not sit here and argue with you, like you seem to want me to. I don't come here to cause fights
You have no idea how your words made me feel. It was absolutely disgusting for you to say that. I am very upset, at the moment. I can't even type this message because I’m actually crying. To suggest calling a social worker on my aunts and uncles is disgusting. You obviously have never had anyone show you love. Your words are disgusting.
HOW DARE YOU. I feel sorry for you. You must be a very sad person if you go around saying such cruel things about children and their families. I will not let this go, I am going to contact the mods, you need to be reprimanded for your disgusting words!!! I'm actually crying at the moment

I will not tolerate such disrespect. HOW DARE YOU...HOW DARE YOU say that about my family. I consider this a personal attack! You have no right to say that about my family. You must not have such a close, loving, caring family that I have.ichabod wrote:I honestly don't know whether to feel sorry for them or have a social worker sent to their house.DisneyVillain wrote:Disney actually put effort into something instead of stringing consumers along. Sorry to bust bubbles here, but these "princesses" are Merchandise - enjoyable merchandise to many, but merchandise, primarily for children.
Disney makes these DVD movies to further interest in the characters and entice viewers to buy more merchandise related to them. In effect, these productions are like the old theater "Shorts"; curtain raisers, attention grabbers, __but__ under scrutiny of producers to be made quickly at "reasonable" costs.
Because each project is often helmed by a different producer and director, who in turn has access to different production crews, each project will have different aesthetics, feel, overall quality level, etc. More so, Every viewer will see the same production in a different light.
I've remarked a bit on various production aspects of these shows, but in the end those comments are just an opinion.
The question is:
Do you and/or your children ENJOY these productions?
If YES, well and good and there will be more to buy!
If NO, there is and will be plenty of other higher quality "Princess" entertainment for you ( Enchanted, or the original Disney features, or Rapunzel, etc.).

If a Princess blinks with her eyes...
Hi everybody,
I like the Disney princess very much. Yes, I have the whole stuff on DVD. I belong to the princes who dreams of an own princess. I am the hero that conquers a princess in my dream. So I watch in my daily life what a true princess like.
The program on DVD should be better. The princesses need to be getting a much more royal treatment in quality from the company. The princess line deserves it!
This week I will get the “Disney princess enchanted tales: Follow your dreams” from the United States.
Oh Disney, what have you done? If a princess blinks with her eyes I can’t resist it. And I am sooo much insisting of quality production on DVD!

Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Ichabod Insults
Well, yes. If you don't expect the best, and you don't get the best...then you are satisfied. Anyway, it would be almost impossible to have feature-quality animation done at this time with, you know, the animation desks and tools auctioned off. Of course this is out-sourced, and that's just one reason why it won't be as good as past Disney animation. Also, it's been a few years since the last films, and even Beauty and the Beast's new "Human Again" animation didn't perfectly match the film it was inserted into. And these are little stories, not full-length features, and even if they said it was a "movie", most people realize it's two different princess stories tied to together even before they buy it.ichabod wrote:So just because people had low expectations of the animation in this and because those low expectations were met that makes it satisfactory?
That's Cinderella III, and you can use great in comparison to things that aren't great. Some people may think Disney's animation isn't very good, so they would call it okay and call some other feature, like The Triplets of Belleville or something "great". The animation of Cinderella III was fantastic compared to many past sequels.ichabod wrote:And whilst the animation in Cinderella II was of a higher quality than most direct to video sequels, It's still not good enough to have the word "great" thrown around!
This didn't indicate that the Princess DVD itself was child abuse, but that the parents who bought it for the kids were abusing their children, which is an insult to Disney Villain's relatives who did buy it. Or, it indicated that for children to enjoy the DVD, there must be something wrong with them, and that is another insult to Disney Villain's relatives. That's horrible, and I hope you didn't intend it that way (I'm guessing you actually didn't).ichabod wrote:I honestly don't know whether to feel sorry for them or have a social worker sent to their house
If you would have more carefully READ what Disney Villain said, it was this:ichabod wrote:The story is wafer thin and predictable. How is someone bending over, splitting their pants and showing colourful underwear paying respect to the original Sleeping Beauty?
This shows he meant the backgrounds and animation paid homage, while all other aspects may have not. And by animation, he meant the reasonably well-done drawings themselves, as well as the style, the overall look, the mostly on-modelness (only went off occasionally).DisneyVillain wrote:Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams pays respect to the original films with its backgrounds and animation.

Well,i seen it and heres what i think:
Aurora's story:
That was really great! i like Aurora and i think that how they should show her in the film,i don't she was out of her character at all and those pink things wasn't bad.
Poor duke,lol.
I like how she got rid of the cows! it was smart!.
what was that chicken foot in the end?.
Jasmine story:
Also wonderfull.
Loved Rajah, the part when Jasmine brings him and the children weren't scared was funny
.
I loved how Jasmine was in this story and i think Jasmine should get some spotlight alone (in fact-if Hakeem didn't showed up i almost forgot about Aladdin and Genie(,she's allways known as "Aladdin wife\Girlfriend\Love",not as a character by her own.
I was amazed by the animation for a DTV DVD.
I really enjoyed it and i can't wait to Volume 2.

The DVD arrived yesterday!!!
I really loved the DVD, it was exactly what I've been expecting since 1997.
When the Princess Collection first came out (with Ariel and Jasmine), I wished that they could do new princess stories with new animation and new songs of my favorite princesses.
So my dream came true!!!
I loved all the songs and I'm so glad that there are 2 songs for story. I love Lea Salonga, so I have two more songs by her doing Jasmine!!!
I can't wait for more volumes of Enchanted Tales.
