animals that still deserve to be animated that aren't !

Post by REINIER »

Hi there.

Much has been done in (disney)animation, we have talking lama's, fish that just can't be found, stray lion's ,cats & dogs just to name a few,
many animals have been portrayed,
but can you come up with an animal that deserves to be animated that isn't already ?

I dare you to name one and elaborate why you think they should get animated!

Think long and hard because we all know there are plenty animals!

And no, you'll have to name one first
( I'm still thinking! )
When it comes to brains, I got the lion-share,
but when it comes to bruth strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool

Most animals have been animated, even rare ones like okapi (Lion King 2). So I guess you mean a movie animated that is all about a particular animal. Because most of the animals I am going to mention have had animated counterparts, but usually in small, nameless, and otherwise useless parts. I will name animals I think could support an entire movie.

Vultures - actually writing a children's book about these really neat animals, have had countless opportunities to observe them in the wild and see their behavior firsthand and they are actually very interesting
Wolves - Of course we got things like Wolf's Rain and whatnot. Balto too, but it doesn't completely count. Wolves could carry an entire movie with the right script and story. If lions can, so can wolves.
Bats - Like vultures, terribly misunderstood. They are good mothers and care for the entire colony. For instance, if a bat is unable to catch food for itself, be it due to illness, disease, old age, or injury, other bats, unrelated by blood, will regurgitate part of their meal they hunted that night to feed to the hungry one. A behavior we only see in "higher" animals like wolves and dolphins.
Cheetahs - As beautiful and swift as they are, they are often the underdogs of the savanna. Many of their kills they make are forfeited to larger predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas. They struggle to survive because they are smaller and choose to live solitary lives. I am sure a story could be woven around this.
Whales (and dolphins) - There is a lot to go on there. Baleen and tooth whales both could be developed alone or together for one movie. Most live in pods or least travel in pods for sometime of the year.

Just please....no more penguin movies!

No I really meant animals that aren't portrayed at all!
There must be animals that still roam the earth that have not been seen in animation.

I have to admid though that I like your approach!

Some animals I can't remembers I have seen in a Disney short or feature: pangolin, armadillos, platypus, tarsier and megabats. And these are just mammals.
Other are the Australian lungfish, velvet worms, caecilians, giant salamander, gulper eel, giant centipede, manta ray, river dolphin, sea cow, mantis shrimp, tardigrade and the horseshoe crab.

What the reason for these to be animated should be, other than being cool, I can't tell for the moment, I just wanted to give some inspiration.

If including extinct animals, the list can be made longer.

Armadillos have been in cartoons by Disney with Donald Duck.

I have also seen a platypus in Ferngully. And I know I've seen a pangolin in some other animated movie. I think I have seen a giant centipede in a movie as well. Maybe Ferngully too. Ferngully was chuck full of animals here and there, that normally don't get animated.

Well, you can't really help but smile along with them! Maybe Disney should capitolize on this idea and make a film based on the sloths of the world. I would go see that!

What about an Orangutan and a Narwhale?

I want to see something done with a Jackalope too!

Siren, I'm pretty sure you saw a platypus in Rescuers Down Under, of course it was a rather small role I think.

A panda. The obvious reason being they are native to China. The only animated Disney film set their is Mulan, but I haven't seen that film in a long time, and I don't recall seeing pandas in it.
Has a panda ever been portrayed realistically in an animated film before?

Nice ideas everyone! :)

But I'm still waiting for Disney to release an animated film featuring a bacterium or a virus as its protagonist.
