Superman Returns doesn't have anything over the two disc DVD release. Batman Begins doesn't either on Blu Ray - because its not been released! The HD DVD does have a Picture in Picture In Movie Experience though. In general most "day and date" releases on both formats get some form of enhancement, while often catalog titles don't.

I think that in order to tempt people into buying the new format, Studios have to offer something new - especially if the technology allows it. Using BDJava, the game on Meet the Robinsons BD could actually be quite a good game.

That said, in the UK, Disney are charging the same as the 2 Disc Cars Blu Ray relase for this, which is also more than the recently released [well, supposedly recently released... drums fingers... come on Amazon.co.uk send me my disc already!] two disc Pirates Blu Ray discs.

I really, really hope the specs presented so are are incomplete, because this does sound like a lazy "upgrade" to the standard DVD release for a extra-premium price. Which is, in my opinon, wrong. Either keep them the same and charage a smaller premium or go all out and deliver bells and whistles for the larger pricing premium.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

As far as I know, no (I still haven't gotten mine, yet). It's just an offer for a free soundtrack; that's all. Hopefully mine will come soon. Then again, after Disney lost my ticket stub for the film when I mailed it to them for rewards points, I'm not holding my breath on this.
Did you get yours yet Diseykid?

Nope, still no sign of it. If I don't get it by next week, I'm just going to assume either Disney conveniently lost my entry or the mail carrier lost the CD. Let's see...

Probably a long shot, but I hope that the MTR spot that's been playing in front of a lot of movies (with the frogs singing the woes of talking, smoking, etc. in a theater) is included as an easter egg on the DVD.

If you don't mind me asking, what movies do they play this in front of? Also, is it Jamie Cullum's voice they use? Thanks.

I can answer the first question. I believe they play it, or were playing it (as I haven't seen it lately), in front of any movie, based on the theater. I don't think it's Jamie Cullum's voice, but I don't know for sure.

Yeah, since MTR debuted, I've seen it in front of every movie I've seen in Carmike and Consolidated (and maybe Regal) theaters. Like Luke, I don't think it's Jamie Cullum's voice -- definitely didn't sound like him.

In either case, I thought Jamie Cullum only did the singing voice...or did I completely make that up?

BBFC has passed specs for the DVD:

00:00:14:02 (STEPHEN ANDERSON INTRO)
00:06:22:22 (INTRO / ALTERNATE OPENING)
00:03:10:20 (INTRO / ON THE ROOFTOP)
00:02:59:06 (INTRO / ARRIVING IN THE FUTURE)
00:02:01:11 (INTRO / MEETING CARL)
00:03:26:20 (INTRO / WILBUR'S PLAN)
00:06:21:00 (INTRO / DINNER WITH ROBINSONS)
00:01:29:02 (INTRO / BOWLER HAT GUY'S REDEMPTION)
00:03:37:04 (INTRO / ALTERNATE ENDING)
00:17:10:16 INVENTING THE ROBINSONS
00:06:16:02 KEEP MOVING FORWARD
00:03:46:06 ROB THOMAS "LITTLE WONDERS"
00:03:15:03 JONAS BROTHERS "KIDS OF THE FUTURE"

Total runtime: 1 hour, 11 seconds.

I'm upset that the two featurettes are only 23 minutes altogether, but at least the DVD has an audio commentary.

And it looks like we know what the Blu-Ray exclusive deleted scenes are:
00:06:22:22 (INTRO / ALTERNATE OPENING)
00:03:10:20 (INTRO / ON THE ROOFTOP)
00:03:26:20 (INTRO / WILBUR'S PLAN)
00:06:21:00 (INTRO / DINNER WITH ROBINSONS)
00:03:37:04 (INTRO / ALTERNATE ENDING)

That means the DVD only gets about 6 minutes of deleted material, while the Blu-Ray gets the same 6 minutes plus about 22 more minutes. Grrr...

I'm also upset at a lack of a still gallery with concept art, storyboards, etc.

Meet the Robinsons - 47?

Post by rafiki »

Just bought it and it does indeed say "47th animated classic" on the back.

Thought BVHE would rectify the Wild mistake but seemingly not

Only need 101 dalmatians and make mine music now and my collection is complete

Why don't we just call it 87, and number things randomly from this point on. EVERYBODY is a winner.

It's a pity The Wild can't be completely erased from existence if I'm being honest.

As for Meet the Robinsons, I just want to say how much I really love this film. It's grown on me so much since seeing it at the cinema.

Is it out on dvd already over there? It has yet to show up in the cinemas in The Netherlands. It's due for october (and probably only in the dubbed dutch version) You'll never get a big audience for it this way.

And the bonus features are dismal. :( "Inventing the Robinsons" doesn't even mention the animation process. Bleh...
