Happy Birthday to everyone in this thread that I've missed since I last visited.
Also, Happy Birthday to Aaron, the latest UD member to have a Birthday!
Just because it's your Birthday, Aaron, doesn't mean you get to lay down on the job! Let's get to that long overdue review of Desperate Housewives: The Complete Third Season. I expect to see it up on the site by the time this night is over! If not, I'll have to get the whip out!

A very happy belated birthday to rs_milo_whatever. Sorry I missed your day, I've added you to the list, so you shouldn't be missed next year. At any rate I hope you had a great birthday.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I took over this thread, it was located in "Polls & Games". Luke, graciously moved it to "Off Topic" in hopes meaningful greetings and more interest would appear. We've had about a year "trial period" to get the birthday wishes to be more meaningful than an obligatory "Happy Birthday Whoever" followed by emoticons. Now, I'm not fussing at anyone who does that, the fact that you care enough to post anything is great. I know it's difficult to come up with a meaningful greeting when you don't know much about the birthday celebrator. I have struggled with that issue myself. With that said, I feel we(myself included) have not succeeded in sparking more interest in this thread or in getting more meaningful greetings to appear, which is part of the reason why this thread had to be moved.
Another reason this thread had to be moved, is the new policy for threads. In an effort to bring discussion back to the forums, topics that don't spark discussion are to be moved to "Polls & Games". I feel this thread falls under the guidelines of that policy. I hope you all continue to post birthday greetings for your fellow members. And if in time, more personal/meaningful birthday wishes start to appear, I will consider moving this thread back to "Off-Topic".

CJ, the problem with moving these threads to this forum, is that people may not visit the Polls & Games forum. I know that I visit it rarely, if ever, which is why I had no idea that the New DVD thread had been moved here.
I fear that these threads will be forgotten, or visited far less, if they keep being moved to a forum that doesn't get as much traffic as the others.

MMO, I get what your saying. However, if a thread is forgotten because it changes locations to "Polls & Games", I feel that thread is no longer important. If this thread dies, because of the move, so be it. I feel strongly that the loyal group of posters who participate in this type of thread, will continue to post in it no matter where it is located. And I can think of three people off the top of my head that have already followed it from "Polls & Games" to "Off Topic", and I am sure they will follow it back here. I also believe this thread will survive, as "Polls & Games" is not a death sentence for a thread. Just look at the "TPBM" thread, that thing is currently on it's third volume and getting ready for a volume four. And if that thread can survive for so long here, I'm positive the threads moved here can too.
Moving on to the traffic issue, I understand "Polls & Games" doesn't currently get much traffic. But in time, as popular, non-discussion threads are moved here that will change. Sure some people will not notice when a thread is moved, but a quick search can find the threads. MMO, you brought up the "new dvd thread", let me ask you this: Now that you know where that thread is, will you continue to post in it? Or has it's new location caused you to stop posting in it? I figure you will continue to post in it, and while your here in "Polls & Games" you might even visit some of the other threads too. The more people who come here to find their favorite non-discussion thread, the more traffic "Polls & Games" gets. And honestly, if a location change keeps someone from posting in a thread, that person doesn't truly care about that thread.
I know this new policy will take some time to get used to it, but in the long run I think it's a good start to bringing discussion back to the forums. If anyone doesn't like this new policy, please feel free to bring it up for discussion in "Feedback". I'm always willing to listen, and I know the other mods are too. Maybe someone can offer a better solution. Until then, If you want a thread moved out of "Polls & Games", try to get everyone posting in that thread to start discussing instead of posting fluff.

September 21 is another double celebration. Our first birthday celebrator is STASHONE, who seems to be more of a lurker these days. Our second birthday celebrator is RyougaLolakie, who will be 20 today. I wish you both a fantastic birthday.
