The Art of Disney Movies

Post by Atlantica »

I recently come across these Art of Disney books on Amazon, and I wondered if they were worth getting at all?

The one I was particularly interested in was the 'Art of The Little Mermaid' book, and 'The Art of Hercules'.

Since they are quite expensive, I wondered what people's opinions were on them?

"The Art of The Little Mermaid" unfortunately was only made as a miniature. :x It's still great, but not as marvelous as it should have been. "The Art of Hercules" is fantastic, as if "The Art of" The Lion King, Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, and Finding Nemo.

Heres what two people on Amazon.com had to say about "The Art of the Little Mermaid."

This is a tiny book. I can't use this as my art reference. Don't make same mistake I did.

This book is so cool! The size is small, but awesome! The pictures are great and the stories behind them are fascinating!

I just took a picture of "The Art of The Little Mermaid" so you would see the actual size.

I just noticed, my book has a different logo from the stock photo.
Image
The stock photo has the original 89' logo, as compared to my book which has the 97' Re-Release logo. Hmmm :? Where is Disney Duster when I need him?

Thanks for calling on me! You're actually the one who always gives us the best Mermaid musical information. Very sorry, but that logo is a huge mystery to me! Did it get a re-print? Did you look at the date of your book?

I got mine when it was still in stores, at a shop called Hastings. Anywoo, the date in the book is 11/97.

I haven't got the small "Art of..." books, but the large ones are quite great. 8)

I have one "miniature Disney Art"book and that's Snow White, which is even SMALLER than that.

I'd say go for it!

If you truly love the film, then there shouldn't be a second thought.

I have the "Snow White" book, too! And, I agree- if you love the movie, then you'd for sure like the book!

Okay, then if it says the copyright is 1989, then there must have been a re-print of the book around the movies re-release! Interesting! And a good thing for you!

Thank you everyone! All of this info has been really really helpful; really appreciate it!

Why on earth was it so small? It makes no sense! Thank you for the comparisom to the DVD; I really have a good idea of just how small it is now.

Some of the 'Art Of' books are so cheap; do you rekon they are all worth getting? You guys certainly seem to like them!

There's a special offer by a Spanish newspaper to buy several titles of this collection of books at a reduced price. Here's all the info. I post it here in case there are other fellow Spanish members or visitors who might be interested in it.
