that ...... "performance" ...... was.... awful.
Look, I feel sorry for her. The industry has sucked her dry to the point where she can't even do the one thing she used to do best anymore.
She needs to go into hiding and plan a comeback worth a damn. Cause this was beyond embarrassing.
And Rihanna needs to just go away already. How dare that brainless little tramp laugh at Britney. Britney's worst is Rihanna's best. Her performances are always awful.
and as usual, the show was a joke.

I was left a little flat after the performance; if it was a complete suprise, maybe it would have been better, as we wouldnt have been expecting anything. I was expecting too much, I know that. The poor girl hasnt been on stage in YEARS, give her some credit; and I think she came accross in that performance as a bundle of nerves, bless her.
She looked quite scared through most of the performance; this wasnt helped AT ALL by her stilleto breaking or snapping right in the beginning of the song, after she says "I see you..". She was probably too nervous to bluff through it.
I see this performance as a stepping stone for Britney; she had the mini tour with the M+M's, and now this. She should just take it one step at a time. The performance wasnt half as bad as people on here are saying it is! Not in the slightest. Compared to what Britney can do, it isnt as good, but compared to some artists, say Rhinna, its pretty damn fine!
Sarah Silverman should be shot for saying what she said. What the hell gives her the right to say such dreadful things? That would certainly have had a detrimental effect on her performance; if I was Britney, before I sang, would have called Sarah out on stage and kicked her ass, as MutantEnemy said!
Critis have been quick to rubbish her again; they seem to have forgotten that her single is getting RAVE reviews, and is climbing up the charts on airplay alone!
This is not going to spoil Britneys comeback; the leaked songs have almost all been universally praised, and as I said, 'Gimme More' has done amazing busnisses already! I, for one, am still going to be supporting her 100%, and cannot wait for her album!

1. Could you show me the "rave" reviews by the major critics and not just her fans?
2. She just looked bored and stoned last night to me.
3. She *has* been on stage lately. You say she hasn't been on stage "in years" as if it was seven or so years since.
4. The performance is as bad as everyone is saying. It was hyped up and everyone was talking about it. It all turned out to be very halfassed.
5. Eh, what Sarah Silverman said was pretty shocking, especially when it was directly after Britney left stage. So I can see how that upsets people. But her fans are using this to make up another excuse for Britney's bad performance.
6. How many more thousands of chances are you going to give Britney?

If you don't like her, why are you bothering to post? It just makes this thread more and more negative, which is sad.
This is from Blender.com:
Britney's Shocking Comeback Single
WHO: Britney Spears
WHAT: "Gimme More"
WHY: At the end of Britney Spears' new single, producer Danjahandz (Justin Timberlake, Katharine McPhee) says, "Bet you didn't see this coming." He's right. Even if it's an obvious "SexyBack" retread (all the way down to the distorted vocals), the unsettling disco dazzler "Gimme More" is about as good a track as we could expect from a woman whose life has turned into a lurid, express line farce. Britney's breathy lyrics take on her tabloid stalkers in a way that's somewhere between completely self-aware, invincible and, dare we say, kinda artful. "They want more, well, I'll give them more," she says, standing up to a billion flash bulbs with a genuine potential smash hit behind her. She's not just bitching about the paparazzi — she's begging them for more with a smirk and some cocaine funk. Reverse psychology par excellence or a star admitting to her own dark, attention-craving desires? Either way, it's more intriguing than it should be. "It's Britney, bitch," she says at the top of the track. Welcome back, bitch.
**** / *****
Thats the only one I could find a link to atm, but there are reviews all over the internet from critics, and other singers as well. And they all seem to love it!
If you don't like her, then fair enough. But I do, and again, I always will! End of.

If that was a shot at me (which I'm not sure it was), I wasn't making up excuses. I read the whole Sarah Silverman bit in an article online and just thought I'd post it here for discussion. As I've already stated in previous posts, the performance was awful and is only showing us that she still has some personal issues that she needs to work out. Plus, I honestly don't even believe the Sarah Silverman rumor.HalRoachFan wrote:5. Eh, what Sarah Silverman said was pretty shocking, especially when it was directly after Britney left stage. Nothing personal taken. Everyone's entitled to an opinion. I've always been a fan of Sarah Silverman's frank rude humor. It was hilarious!Aladdin from Agrabah wrote:Are you kidding me? Talking about Britney's kids, saying "they're as cute as the careless vagina they came out"??????? Is that a sense of HUMOR???? IS THAT ACCEPTABLE?? I mean I don't live in America and maybe I've missed some things but are the Tv presenters ALLOWED to talk like that about two completely innocent babies??? Calling them "mistakes"???? She has no right to talk like that! Even if she's right about Britney she can't offend the babies, it's not their fault! If Britney won't sue her, I will! And If that's why Britney didn't make the most out of her performance, I completely understand her.Anthony wrote:And I don't know what everyone on here is complaining about, I thought Sarah Silverman was funny.
That was just not fair. Not fair at all. Shame on the people who laughed. Shame on the people who make fun of a woman who's seriously in need. Shame on EVERYONE who makes fun of HUMAN PAIN.
p.s. Anthony nothing personal you just gave me the chance to express my feelings.
Good luck suing Silverman though!

No, it wasn't a shot at you. I may not have even read your post. What I said was about this rumor spreading around. It came from x17, a site all up Britney's ass, and they're very likely making it up.Prince Ali wrote:If that was a shot at me (which I'm not sure it was), I wasn't making up excuses. I think I have to work more on listening exercises. Well "careless" seemed reasonable to me anyway, probably because I thought Sarah was referring to Britney's "careless" sexual life, that is, sleeping carelessly with any man she could like. I don't know if my way of thinking makes more sense now. This doesn't mean that I agree with this point of view though, that's just what I thought I heard. Or what I expected to hear.Just Myself wrote:I love the idea of a vagina that doesn't care.
Cheers,

p.s. hairless is not bad, careless is.

Interesting article on eonline.com about what happened to the Criss Angel idea and some excuses as to why the performance sucked:

You know, I got to work this morning, and noticed that MSN.com had posted a very scathing review of Britney's performance. I didn't watch the MTV VMA's, as I could care less. The type of music that MTV promotes doesn't interest me, at all.
Anyway, I read the review, and laughed, because they were saying, "Her moves looked as if they were choreographed by a dance instructor at a nursing home", "her lip-syncing was way off!", etc. I thought surely it couldn't have been that bad. Well, I found a video, and couldn't believe it. She was totally out of it. She didn't even look interested. Her movements where horrible, the lip-synching was terrible, and the whole performance felt as if she were a puppet on a string, being pulled by someone that was asleep.
It's no big secret that I am a HUGE fan of Madonna. I will say, Madonna is nearing 50 years old, and she puts on 2 hour shows with so much energy, dancing, and live singing, that it blows your mind. Madonna blows Britney out of the water with her live performances! Amazing that someone twice Britney's age can out perform her!
I used to be a huge fan of Britney. It's just so sad to see how far she has fallen, and that she doesn't see it. She really needs to take an extremely LONG break from music, and come back when she's not such a mess, if that is even possible.

First, I don't think rihanna was laughing at Britney she was laughing at the "DANCER" in front of her. Second, as much as I used to like Britney, Rihanna is actually a better artist than her, Rihanna's first 2 albums weren't the best, but her newest one is 10x better than Britney's last 4... Also Rihanna is much more professional than britney ever was.PatrickvD wrote: And Rihanna needs to just go away already. How dare that brainless little tramp laugh at Britney. and as usual, the show was a joke.

That is the scarriest thing I have ever seen I wasn't expecting him to blast out like that.HalRoachFan wrote:Amusinghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHmvkRoEowc This must be how the rest of the few fans Britney has left are that still love her.

I'm rewatching the performance and it certainly isn't as bad as what people are saying. It did just that in fact, it got people talking. I'm sure that the MTV producers wanted her to either fall flat on her face or give a great performance, so they're probably thanking her. It got people talking and as they say- any publicity is good publicity, so yeah, the album will probably do well regardless of this.
That being said, the performance was definitely not that good either. She should've had a plan and realised say two months prior that in order to stage a perfect comeback she'd need to start rehearsing, working out, and planning it ASAP. The fact that she even went out before the performance the night before annoys me and that after it she went out without panties on (again!) makes me angry. She needs to go out of the country, the business and the whole soul sucking music industry and just have time to regroup and spend time with her children. The fact that there is so much pressure on her to perform well, the fact that she has media scrutiny on her all the time and the fact that she has to deal with a custody battle must play with her head, as it would anyone else's, so we can't really blame her too much, as it's only natural that she'd want to forget about it all, and party. But yeah, she does need to get her act together soon. I wouldn't mind waiting a year or two for the album, only if she can perform the single well enough for a comeback.
