Um, that was terrible. She basically just stood in the same spot and flopped around in her overly-sexed outfit. That was a major disappointment, especially after all the hype it received.

As for Sarah Silverman, she's rude and I don't like her at all.

You know you gave a bad performance when Rihanna, of all people, looks bored out of her mind watching you're pathetic attempt at dancing. Brit looked like an 80-year old dancing in a 25-year old's body.

It was possibly the best performance of her entire vile career since it was the only one that had me in stitches.

After this disappointing "come back", I hope that JIVE records thinks twice about releasing her album next month. I think Britney needs to go back to the gym and lose that gut, and she needs to spend more time working on her dancing and learning to 'lip-sync' again. I had only heard that song once before tonight, and I could have done a better job lip-syncing. She deserved to be laughed at, and I hope that she goes back home and looks at the tape of this performance and sees for herself what she has to work on.

She needs a lot of help, and she also needs to get her priorities straight. Her family and kids first, then her career. Not the other way around. If she thinks that the kids are a bother, then she should give them to K-Fed, at least he wants them.

Sara Silverman needs a bar of soap in her mouth. Her criticisms were uncalled for, unfair, and very unfunny. Who made her captain of the MTV awards show?

That performance was a complete trainwreck! Britney was horrible. First off, if she's gonna be lazy enough to lip-synch at least make sure you know all the lyrics, but she couldn't even do that right! And her dancing, if that's what you can even call it, was hysterically funny! It's like she was counting the dance steps in her head as she was doing it. Awful, awful, awful.

And I don't know what everyone on here is complaining about, I thought Sarah Silverman was funny.

I'm not sure how true it is, but could there be a reasonable explanation behind Brit's less-than-perfect performance? Rumor has it that Britney heard Sarah Silverman rehearsing her monologue moments before she took the stage and was threatening to leave and not perform at all. During her performance, a close friend of Britney's chewed out Silverman backstage.

Apparently Britney had told MTV that Silverman was not to crack jokes about her babies, and MTV agreed. Unfortunately, (if it's even true) the network execs. went back on their word.

Well, I've seen snippets of it, and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, given some of the comments on here, but yeah, certainly was quite disappointing. From some of the comments here I was expecting her pants to be down to her ankles, showing off everything that could be seen, her to be drunk on stage, fat beyond recognition, and her wearing a bra too small, with her tits sticking out of her bra. Well, it actually wasn't too far off actually, but yeah, not as bad as everyone is making out. I'm hoping that there is a really good and legitamite explanation for it, cause I was waiting all day for that, and it certainly did not live up to expectations. I hope the video clip is better and that she does a better performance sometime soon. I hope that she gets much better in the future. I, and her fans, deserve it.

First off let me say: Whaa?? DVDjunkie, you seriously consider someone of her size someone worthy of being sent to "lose that gut"? You might wanna lower your expectations regarding women's sizes. Secondly, I can't see how anyone can actually be laughing at her performance! My heart seriously went out to her. This whole "comeback" is a trainwreck in the making and she's just standing by, waiting for it to happen. I've never seen so much pain and unhappiness in a star's performance. I'm no fan of hers, but this is no time for the public to be staring and pointing while laughing their asses off.

I agree. I mean, she had 2 kids. She shouldn't have dressed like that, as a mom, especially, but she looks great for having had 2 kids.

I'll probably still buy the album (I just hope it's not filled with hip hop). I do feel bad for her, and, if she was hurt because of what she heard Sarah Silverman saying prior to performing, then Sarah should be getting some crap for it, especially from MTV.

I don't know about everyone else's TVs, but mine had the sound not working through a lot of it- I know that Fall Out Boy's performance(s) didn't work for everyone, but, for example, the sound on Beyonce's speech kept fading, getting louder, fading on my TV. The VMAs used to be a big event. Now it's just a joke. The format sucked- all the different rooms...it was craziness. Wow. I mean, there's not that much new music out there that I like (unless they would've put Hanson, Mandy Moore, Corbin Bleu, & the Jonas Brothers on the show!), and it just wasn't good. I don't like Chris Brown, so I wasn't paying much attention when Rihanna came on, since she came on when he was still on stage.

It was just a disappointment all around.

But, I hope Britney will learn from her mistakes, and hopefully she'll do a better job next time. I'm hoping there will be a next time. I hope that talk shows will have her on. She'll lip-synch, sure, but she at least needs to get her dancing up to speed. I'm opposed to lip-synching during a "live" performance, but at least with Britney, previously she'd be dancing her butt off, putting on a good show, so I'd put up with it.

Darn that Sarah Silverman. :x :( :x

You know every time we have a party like at new year's eve or something, one of our middle aged neighbours usually gets drunk and starts to take off her clothes and dance around drunkenly in her bra and pants miming badly to whatever song is playing.

I can't help but think my neighbour should seek legal action for having her act stolen.

Let this be a wakeup call to the few remaining delusional Britney fans.

I never liked her, and never thought she had any musical talent except dancing (she can't even do THAT anymore, I guess. We don't buy albums because of the singers' dancing anyway).

And as for the rumors going around about why Britney's performance was bad... this was supposed to be Britney's big comeback to save her career. A true professional would put away their troubles for just the moment they are on stage to revive their career. There is no excuse for last night, no matter what kind of 5hit her fans try to make up.

I always thought this new album would drop from the charts quickly, but now I don't know if it will even hit #1 in the first week.

Are you kidding me? Talking about Britney's kids, saying "they're as cute as the careless vagina they came out"??????? Is that a sense of HUMOR???? IS THAT ACCEPTABLE?? I mean I don't live in America and maybe I've missed some things but are the Tv presenters ALLOWED to talk like that about two completely innocent babies??? Calling them "mistakes"???? She has no right to talk like that! Even if she's right about Britney she can't offend the babies, it's not their fault! If Britney won't sue her, I will! And If that's why Britney didn't make the most out of her performance, I completely understand her.
That was just not fair. Not fair at all. Shame on the people who laughed. Shame on the people who make fun of a woman who's seriously in need. Shame on EVERYONE who makes fun of HUMAN PAIN.
p.s. Anthony nothing personal you just gave me the chance to express my feelings.

I wish Britney would have hunted down Sarah Silverman and whooped her A55. That would've redeemed the whole performance for me, while at the same time stating how much she cares for her kids. I know...violence isn't the answer and a woman going through a custody battle doesn't need to get arrested, but still. I would respect her a lot more than I currently do. Oh Well!

I don't think Sarah Silverman is going to have a good day today!
