Disney Movie Rewards really screwed up the shipping
I had earned enough points to get the Mickey Mouse TV that was going to be a birthday gift for my soon-to-be 4 year old daughter (she had her choice between the Mickey or Princess TV). Well, I got my UPS notice that a package was being delivered by Disney Rewards (I also got an email from Disney Rewards saying that the TV was being shipped). I went to the UPS location to pick up the package (they need a signature, and since my wife and I work during the day, I took time off to pick up the package). When I got the package and opened it up, all that was in there was just boxes and boxes of band-aids... doctor samples. The box was clearly marked that it was from Disney and the label was securely stuck on the box (it did not look like it fell off and was put on a box... it looked like it was meant to be there). I immediately contacted Disney by phone and they are looking into the problem and will try to rectify it immediately. My daughter's birthday is on Sept. 5 and they (Disney) has to move rather quickly to make sure she is happy.

Sounds to me like someone working for Disney Movie Rewards or UPS stole the TV, and filled the box with the other stuff to cover their tracks. A light TV box would raise suspicion faster than a box that has some weight to it. I've read stories in my local paper about some retail employees who did things like last year.

I just ordered Tall Tale last week with my points and have yet to get a shipping notice. It's kind of weird that I got 300 points with Darkwing and Muppets at a cost of around 50.00 and I got Little Einsteins and Handy Manny for my Nephew's birthday at 25.00 together and earned 350 points. I know they were doubles but they really need to make the season sets be worth more than 150 when the films are worth 100. I'd say more like 200 or 300 are in order on box sets. Narnia cost me 70.00 and all I got was 125. Anyway, I hope I get Tall Tale soon. Now I'm guesstimating how many more points I can earn before this ends and hoping I can spring for Zorro. Anyone know why the Treasures, True Life Adventures, and last November's Disney Afternoon sets aren't worth any points? Will this year's Treasures be worth any?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Something wierd is going on... I get home last night after running some errands and find the UPS truck in front of my house. He was delivering the TV from Disney Rewards! He said that it was the first attempt to deliver the package and I showed him the other one that I had picked up earlier. We both concluded that this particular box (with the band-aids) was not tampered with and was the original box that Disney shipped out. What I did find out from Disney during my call yesterday was that they do use a fulfillment center to send out the Rewards gifts, and that perhaps the center got things mixed up. So, there must be a doctor out there expecting a box of band-aids but is sitting with a Mickey Mouse TV! LOL
Well, the bottom line, with the second box, my daughter has her birthday gift. All that is left is the phone call from Disney to find out what actually happened.

Uncle Ed - content, and not price, drives the Rewards points. It is hard to set points based on price paid since stores charge different prices for the same products. However, to set the points based on content works. It also matters on what Disney wants to push to reward you with bonus points. Look at their Blu-ray titles. When the Pirates movies got released on Blu-ray, they (Disney) "rewarded" the purchaser with bonus points, and have also set a higher point level for Blu-ray titles. So, it all boils down to content and what Disney wants to push.
With regards to the Treasures issued last year, it was perhaps too late for them to be included in the Rewards program as they were probably already packaged for sale. The upcoming titles will probably be part of the program.

Yeah but they set a suggested retail price so why couldn't the points reflect it? As for content, that is what I'm saying. Who should a 45 minute Little Einsteins be worth more points than a 24 or 27 episode TV series set? How much are Blue Ray titles worth? I had meant to get the Pirates for the bonus points but I forgot. I bet that's over now, huh? As for thr Treasures and TV series from last year, they could have had points if they had wanted to because point titles had already been released months prior. So I feel it was simply a case of not wanting to give out points.

Last year, I called Disney Home Video and asked if the Treasures and Legacy DVDs were getting point certificates.
The operator thought that they were (My memory is a little shaky... she may have thought the Legacy titles were getting the codes.).
When the DVDs were actually released, and no points were available, I chalked it up to these titles not being a major marketing push.
I wasn't going to hold my breath for a different scenario for the next wave of Treasures, but maybe there's validity to the packaging/timing content remark posted earlier.
I certainly hope points are available with the new Treasures. But last year, I learned the hard way: "Don't count your chickens before they're hatched."
