More pics!!

I don't have a picture of my moray eel, but I found one that looks like her. She is a "freshwater" moray eel, but she does live in saltwater. Her name is Flotsam. She eats fish and shrimp


And a picture of an ornate bicher, I have one of these too. Her name is Jetsam. She eats fish, mealworms, bloodworms and shrimp.


Those are my two prize fish. When they die, I swear, I will cry. I have taken care of them since they were babies and both are hand fed. I need to get pics of both of them though. But Flotsam is extremely camera shy. She hangs out in the coral or her shipwreck all day and hunts at night.

I had taken Jinx, my bearded dragon out for a trip to Blockbuster, leaving her empty cage open, and I found this when I got home. Perhaps Lace thought it was an exotic litterbox

I haven't posted much lately, since I've been a bit depressed. I had to have my eldest dog, Sox, put to sleep two weeks ago. She had a brain tumor that couldn't be operated on. The reason for me bumping this thread up is to show my new dog, Belle. Belle was one of my grandmother's dogs until a few days ago. My grandmother noticed how sad my other dog was, so she let me have Belle too cheer him up.

The reason for me bumping this thread up is to show my new dog, Belle. Belle was one of my grandmother's dogs until a few days ago. My grandmother noticed how sad my other dog was, so she let me have Belle too cheer him up.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of Sox. That is very kind of your grandmother to give Belle to you. I hope Belle cheers both of you up!

So I will start with the turtles.

A few months ago, a friend of mine found a turtle on the road. Its an Eastern Box turtle. She went to simply move it off the road and watched in horror as a truck slammed right into it. She's a good size turtle, he likely had to see her, but didn't care. She survived with a few small wounds. Knowing she was injured and I had just built an outdoor turtle habitat for my red ear sliders, my friend bestowed the lovely girl on me. And she's been healing fine.

So all was well with the world.

Then yesterday my father is coming home and sees an Eastern Box Turtle, same size as her, on the road. He wonders how the hell she escaped and picked it up and brings it home. He puts it in the habitat and inspects it for breaks and openings in the fence. As he does this, he sees, the female NEVER left. We now have TWO adult Eastern Box Turtles.

And then he noticed more movement. He moved the grass away, expecting to find an anole lizard or a snake and instead sees, a tiny version of the other two turtles. Then he finds another one!

All that time I had her, she was gravid (pregnant) with eggs and laid them somewhere in the habitat and they hatched yesterday!!!! I had no clue. I still can't find the nest. So we took the babies from the habitat so that wild animals like birds and cats don't come and take/eat them. They are living in a 10 gallon tank in my room for now. I have to dig through the habitat tomorrow and see if there are anymore. They are SO SMALL, they are impossible to find. We counted 3 originally, but can't find the third one, a bird may have already taken it.

The same day this is all going on, my red eye tree frogs arrived!!!! And what beauties they are!

The male is his "I am oh so ***ing gorgeous" purple/'blue color (they go dark at night sometimes, but the lightning is bad because he was in the back of the tank:

Aw, I love tree frogs! And those baby turtles are so tiny! I can't believe how small they are.

BTW, the frogs names are Rogue and Nightcrawler

The turtles names are: Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michaelangelo, Splinter, and April. My daughter named them

And I caught one of the babies eating today


The box turtles are on a veggie, pellet, cricket, and mealworm diet

A couple of weeks ago, Bobby & I put in applications to adopt 2 Basset Hounds. And today we officially adopted them! Their names are Harry (about 3-3.5 years old) and Sally (about 4-4.5 years old)!

I've never had pets before, but I've always had friends who have, so it's almost weird having dogs, but, at the same time, it's wonderful! They're such good dogs (but we went to get their nails trimmed, and Harry was acting up, so not all of his nails got trimmed today...). Here are pictures (taken from the Basset Rescue site...). Once we take our own pictures of them, I can post them here!

Thanks! I got 5 hours of sleep or less, though...we don't have a doggy door, but I do leave out newspaper for them to go on...Harry's sitting right by me, sad that I won't give him any cereal (He's obsessed with food...lol).

blackcauldron> Try another groomer to get his nails cut. I work at a grooming shop and have gotten to know all too well that ALL bassetts hate their nails cut. Some pull, some bark, and some bite. And some do ALL that. But because of their feet and how the nails curl under, they need to have their nails cut every 4-6 weeks to keep the nails from growing INTO the pad, which is painful and can cause infections. I've done a lot of "bad" bassets for nails and I handle them all right. Sometimes need another groomer to hold while I cut or vice versa, but be sure to tell any new groomer about his behavior, so they are forewarned.

Also bassets' ears tend to be prone to heavy dirt and ear infections, so always keep those in check. And if they drool a lot, be sure their necks do not get raw from being wet all the time. A short bandanna around their neck can act like a bib and keep this from happening. Even though they are short haired, I recommend you get them professionally bathed at least every 8-10 weeks, because they can have so many ear, foot, and skin problems.
