Pokemon Heroes: The Movie (R4)

Post by windupgamecat »

In case anyone's interested, Buena Vista Home Entertainment are releasing "Pokemon Heroes: The Movie" on VHS and DVD in Australia on April 21st.
I believe it's the fifth in the series, and the second to be distributed by Disney. It's retailing for AUS$19.95 VHS and AUS$29.95 DVD.

This movie will probably bring the new Pokemon Adventures with the new Pokemon, which I hate, I wish they would just make a movie with the original Pokemon, the adventures in Kanto.

I don't know why Disney are the distrubutor of these movies in Australia. To me they represent all that are bad in cartoons.

I do not know how they have been presented in your countryes but here in Norway they have only been a comersial hype.

First they sell a lot of playing cards and other stuff just to make a tv serie that learns the children how to play them, just so they buy more just to get those exstremely valuable cards.

It just get childre obsesed with buying.

I think it's obviously a commercial decision on Disney's part to pick up the distribution of the Pokemon movies, although I note that they do their best to keep the Disney logo as far away from them as possible, distributing them only as "Buena Vista Home Entertainment".

The Nintendo computer games actually came first, then the cartoon and then the card games - along with toys, books, etc. I don't mind the films to be honest. I bought the first two on DVD and used to watch the TV series. It's not the best animated product in the world, but it's better than a lot of what's out there (including most DTV Disney product, to be honest).

I do not have DTV so I can not say what the quality are there, but the one thing that irritates me about Pokemon is that they seems construated just to get kids to buy the merchandise.

Take all Disney movies as an example, they always make products for a movie so the fans can buy. I do not think that this is to wrong, but it is diffrent when you have a product and make a tv-serie just to get kids to buy the stuff.

Seriously: the serie are nothing more then an education program to the playing cards.

By DTV I meant direct-to-video, not digital TV. :-)

Stuff like Hunchback 2, Cinderella 2 and so on. Disney do a really good job of pillaging their archives to maximize profits, and I personally find that more insidious than Pokemon could ever be.

Disney are deliberately ruining their own history in an attempt to make a quick buck.
