The BBC and Fox will collaborate on a Buffy The Vampire Slayer spin-off starring Anthony Stewart Head entitled Ripper, according to a report.

The Daily Star quotes a source as saying that Buffy creator Joss Whedon is "keen to work with the BBC" and that "they've got the green light to start filming".

According to the alleged insider, Ripper, which has been mooted since Buffy finished in 2003, "will follow Buffy's mentor Giles (Head) after he decides to come out of retirement in his native England to solve ghost stories and other mysteries".

The report claims that the show will enter production next year. The BBC has yet to confirm or deny the claims.

How about Joss + TV + BBC + Buffyverse + Tea and Crumpets + Croquet + cockney rhyming slang + "tally ho" = Mindblowingly awesome?

OMFG, this is GREAT news! I love Giles and loved him even more when we saw the rare times he was "Ripper". He can be a bad-ass when the time needs him to be. I can't wait to see this one!

Thoughts are already racing through my mind about the potential guest stars. Now, Buffy is probably a no-go (considering how "busy" Gellar is with her movie career) but I'm hoping for some good old English action with a Spike cameo... And since we're dealing with watchers, Faith maybe? I also hope they'll address the Watcher's Council blowing up in Buffy's 7th Season.

Pete Docherty is to play a Zombie. No change or acting required there then.
