Does anyone know if the Aladdin Collector's Edition Box Set will include Return of Jafar and King of Theives inside?

And this may be a bit of topic, but does anyone know if the out of print Platinums (Snow White and Beauty and the Beast) will ever be reprinted in the future?

Thanks
Tangela

First of all, welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy it here. ;) And the answers to your questions are as follows, I really doubt that the 2 Aladdin Sequels will be included in the box set, as a matter of fact, I can tell you that for sure. And like always the movies that get out of print will be released in the future, unless the world ends ;) What I do not know is, under what lable, I don't think it will be the Platinum Lable, unless their planning on making some kind of cycle, but the titles will definately be re-released again.

unfortunately summer magic, in search of the castaways, and the original that darn cat! have NEVER been released to R1 dvd.

i will definitely be purchasing almost ALL of those catalog titles coming out........golly i hope they are WIDESCREEN.

perhaps if we all start calling now demanding that these movies be released in their original aspect ratio things could look good.

Thanks Tangela for the reply :)

Well, since RoJ and KoT wil not be included in the Collector's editions, is there a chance that will be released as stand-alone DVD's? Although I know that KoT is out in the UK Region and the site says that RoJ/KoT will be relased sometime in late04/early05, I'm just curious if this announcment is really true or not

Thanks

The Aladdin sequels will probably be released later on their own DVDs byt not at the same time.

Destino are just a short, and will not be a single DVD release. Maybee it will be on some kind of Treasure in the future.

No, it wasn't. This press release was issued by Buena Vista Home Entertainment, which distributes movies from all of Disney's subdivisions and partners, including TouchStone, Mirimax, and Dimension. As such, this general-info press release highlights not only the "Disney" releases, but also those of the other banners for which BVHE distributes the DVDs.

This sucks I guess I was wrong looks like Disney really has no plans for Mr. Boogedy, Child of Glass and Bride of Boogedy. I was so sure they were coming after that phone call I had :(

First of all, this is great news that more Disney catalog titles are coming to DVD. But I'm very suspicious about the quality they will have. The folks over at Disney home-video division seem to have split personalities. One side is releasing beautiful restored special editions in 16x9 widescreen and 5.1 remixed sound (The Love Bug, Apple Dumpling Gang, Escape to Witch Mountain) and the other side is putting out very old low-rez transfers that were done 15 to 20 years ago (Blackbeard's Ghost, Follow Me Boys!)
Of the titles in the press release, the following were remastered for laserdisc in the early 1990's (I have them all), so at the very least they will at least look as good as those did:
Darby O'Gill and the Little People (1.33:1 OAR)
The Three Lives of Thomasina (1.33:1 OAR)
The Shaggy Dog (B&W 1.33:1 OAR?)
Freaky Friday (1.33:1 panned and scanned)

A completed version will appear at festivals around the world before Oscar-nomination time, and Disney plans to release it next year on a DVD with a documentary that tells the whole story.
"Next year" is of course "This year" now. :)

Sweet! That's great about there being a Gift Box for Aladdin. And it's good to have firm dates for "Musketeers" and "Simba's Pride". Yikes August/September/October will be sooooo expensive! August has Musketeers and Simba's Pride (and alot more I'm sure), September has SW Trilogy, ROTK EE, Alias Season Three, and 24 Season Three (and probably more, my poor poor wallet), and October has Aladdin (plus that's when lots of the big summer blockbusters will be hitting DVD). There's no way I can afford all that. I only get $100 a month! I'm gonna have to save way in advance I guess. Yikes...

i'm almost 99% sure that The Shaggy Dog's OAR is 1.33:1 because it was originally supposed to be a straight TV show and then was so good that it was released to theatres, but then again so was The Absent Minded Professor which WAS 1.66:1 and i'm still trying to get my hands on one of those B&W widescreen copies. we'll see, hopefully if they are released fullscreen and it IS the original aspect ratio then there will be some sign or marker saying (this film is presented in it's original aspect ratio approximately 1.33:1)

I LOVED the Boogedy movies growing up. I would love it if they released them on DVD!

Was Child of Glass a Boogedy movie too?

I am definitely interested in "Scarecrow" and "Spider-man," and possibly "Thomasina" as well.

My big questions are:
1) Will Scarecrow be the theatrically released movie (and how much of the original TV shows were edited out for that) or will it be a collection of the individual TV shows?
2) Will the Spider-man 1967 box set have episodes with "new music tracks" as was announced last year, or did they restore the original music?

This last is a major for me - I will not even consider buying the Spider-man Box if they changed the music score.
