What if it played out like the true version of Grimm's tale. The prince comes across the sleeping beauty and instead of awaking her w/a kiss, he rapes her in her sleep and leaves her where she lies. She ends up pregnant, and has his children, while still in a coma, and he keeps coming back and using her. How is that for a fairytale, and trust me i did a college report on the truth behind the tales. Talk about Disney-ing it up.

I thought it might be a bit graphic or disturbing, but this is my favorite Disney tale and after reading that, let's just say, I look at the story in a whole new light.
Quite frankly, I find this out of place and distasteful on a Disney board. I'm not a prude by any means, and it may be that there are darker overtones to different versions of the story, but I think it's inappropriate here.

That just shows you how watered down most versions of the stories are. Do a web search and try to find some of the originals.

Sorry if I appear to be Sir Collectalot, but the dirty version of Sleeping Beauty that was mentioned wasn't a Grimm tale but actually an Italian version (one of the earliest versions in print) recorded by Giambattista Basile in the 17th Century book Il Pentamerone (perhaps the first collection of European fairy-tales) called Sun, Moon and Talia. The story also contains much mirth as cannibalism, adultery and vipers.

The Grimms' version (Little Briar-Rose is actually the most commonly known version, even though Charles Perrault is often credited to it. His version is similar to Grimms' version in the first half, though the second half plays out more like the old Italian version.

 Wow at 2:43 am that had me laughing loudly heh.

Anyways I think when it comes to Fairy-Tales comparing it to the original shouldn't even be a question because there are so many different versions and adaptations wheather they are exact renditions or loosley based versions of the story. When I watch a Disney movie, especially ones based on an original story I always keep in mind that it's just another adaptation of that story and not to compare it to the original or even another story of the original and I always think of them as just based on similar or mixed idea's rather then a full on carbon copy. I guess I'm trying to say that they are not watered-down "disney-fied" versions they are just storys that are made with new idea's based on an original idea that are approachable for everyone.

On to the core of the topic:

WHAT IF...Alice didn't take the cheshire cat's shorcut? Which way would she have gone? The way where some go this way <------- or some go that way --------->?

I find it hard to believe that there would be such a perverted version of Sleeping Beauty as an accepted fairy tale back then because what's the moral to that? In the harsh, unhappy ending fairy stories there is always a lesson out of it. I've heard that Little Red Riding Hood was a lesson on how a girl not be taken advantage of by strange men in the woods but I find no lesson to be learned in a girl sleeping and being used and having children in her sleep. It sounds more like something some pseudo-scholar created in the 1960's and attributed it to a long lost ancient version.

Anyway, here is my what if...

What if when Belle kissed the Beast she turned into a Beast too (like in the Fractured Fairy Tale)

Funny that this thread was revived because I thought of another what if for Cinderella...

What if...

Lady Tremaine had loved and accepted Cinderella as one of her own? Would life be different for all of them? Would the Tremaine family be included in Cinderella's happily ever after?

The story shows how sometimes when you wrap your life around anger, jealousy and hate you'll be left out of life's happy endings.

What if...alternate Disney Stories

Necrophilia! Maybe she'd be confused and think humans fall asleep for really long periods of time? But no, she said later she knew he could have died if she didn't save him. So actually, what if she went to Ursula for a potion to bring Eric back from the dead?!

Instead of merely a fairy tale, perhaps it was just accepted as a neat story? Or perhaps there was some moral we don't see, because values back then may be different from values we have to day. For instance, long ago evryone was very Christian and adultery was frowned upon severely by all, but today more people than not accept sex before marriage, it's in movies all the time and is seen as very mainstream and advertised and sex is everywhere and you know, you know. But I've heard that story as the original Sleeping Beauty many times before in many places, and by people who know their stuff, their history, their research.

Veyr very good. Very thoughtful, clever, inriguing. Cinderella wouldn't have wanted to go to the ball as badly, and perhaps she would have fallen in love with someone before she ever got to see the prince. The whole story would have been different. Her fairy godmother might never have appeared to her, or revealed her existence!

Actually, I meant she pulled him up on the beach and was singing to him. What if he hadn't woken up? I don't think Flounder would have brought her the statue, therefore never causing the poopsies to come and talk to her in the first place.

Here's my ideas:

Beauty & the Beast:
What if Belle was plucking all the petals in the rose like a game, before the Beast shows up, how whould the servents treat her ? And would she still love Beast for the person he is ? :?:

Snow White:
What if the queen had a crush on the Prince, and decided to make the apple turn Snow White into an old hag, would the prince fall in love with the old hag with an innocent heart or the fairest in the land with the heart of a pig ? :?:

Aladdin:
What if the Genie had no limitations to his 3 wishes and could bring back the dead, kill someone, or make someone fall in love with the owner ? :?:

So many sequel possibilities !

I don't think he would have even danced with anyone, much less marry one of the other maidens.
