Could we please move the New DVD Thread back to Off-Topic?
I couldn't find the thread for this for the longest time. I have no idea why it was moved, but, it always seemed to be a better fit in Off-Topic. Is it possible to move the New DVD Thread back to Off-Topic?

After a discussion in <a href=http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... 0490/>this thread, it was decided to move some of the topics that really don't stimulate a discussion to Polls and Games. That's why the New Dvd thread and several others have been moved to Polls and Games.

There is much inconsistency with this new rule.
Why is "What Book did you just read" in polls/games, while "What movie did you just watch in off-topic?
The New DVD thread is in polls/games, but why isn't the new cd thread in polls/games?
I've addressed this in one of the topics, and never got a reply, so maybe I'll be answered now. (I should have just made a topic here).

Elaborating on CJ's explanation, I made a post in polls & games earlier tonight: http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... 577#346577

People frequently comment on others' recent viewings and members often also frequently post their reviews of movies in that thread, which amounts to posts and discussions of substance that are better suited for Off-Topic. Some of the other threads that really only involve posting a recent purchase (or item of food recently consumed, etc.) do not involve more than one line of text or a picture.castleinthesky wrote:I really don't see how "what movie did you watch" stimulates more discussion that "what book did you just read"...
But again, this is just something we're trying in order to make Off-Topic flow a little more. I doubt seriously that anyone is inconvenienced by the thread's move (which, by the way, happened quite a while ago and has until now gone without incident). I'm not sure that it's necessary to have a drawn-out discussion on such a minor point.

In the "Which books did you just read section", there was often discussion of the books just read, but I guess those don't count.AwallaceUNC wrote:People frequently comment on others' recent viewings and members often also frequently post their reviews of movies in that thread, which amounts to posts and discussions of substance that are better suited for Off-Topic. If this all about post count, why isn't post count eliminated entirely?

I never said it's about post count. In this particular instance, it's not. It's about Off-Topic clutter, a problem that was the subject of recent complaint in this forum (see CJ's cited thread). Castle, you yourself suggested the move of some of these topics to Polls & Games.castleinthesky wrote: If this all about post count, why isn't post count eliminated entirely?
The moderators and I can go back and look at the Book thread.
I'm kind of disappointed that this is being turned into a fuss. Hopefully discussion about this incredibly minor issue doesn't have to continue ad infinitum.

Actually, I was thinking about this several times now. I am a member at another board and they designate that all their Entertainment related threads be made at a Board specially designed for all posts about Movies, Music, Books, Games and stuff like that.
UD is so big... it might almost make sense to have an Off-Topic serious discussion board, and an Entertainment related discussion board / sub-board. But of course, that would require a lot of posts being moved and who has time for that sort of thing...

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to start an argument. I was just asking the question. I never visit the Polls and Games Forum. Just not my thing. That's why I never knew that the New DVD Thread was moved. I was just curious. You know what they say? It never hurts to ask!
Anyway, I'll have to try to remember where that thread is, and make myself venture into the Polls and Games Forum when I want to add to the New DVD Thread.
