I found this video courtesy of Spoonfedcornbread is the original 45 copy of "Tall Paul" by Annette Funicello with the Afterbeats. It was on the Disneyland label back in early 1959. That song was a classic and it was a big hit. The label was later used for LP's in the "DQ-1200" and "ST-3900" series of albums. The label continued to used that until the mid-70's when it was switched to a rainbow label right up until they stopped producing mass vinyl. I have a lot of Disneyland LP's, but thanks to Spoonfed for this original Disneyland 45 copy that I don't have. Here it is.

I've got a CD with this one, and it also has a recording session version. It's a Disney Sherman Brothers compilation that came out in the '90's I believe. I forget the real title and don't have it handy (I did just yesterday though, but I put it away, ha). It's a great CD though, and has stuff like That Darn Cat, The Monkey's Uncle, Are We Dancing, and all kinds of Disney stuff, mostly the movie people singing. Though, I know that it has a chorus version of Fortuosity and Beautiful Briny Sea done by some uncredited British guy. Actually, the CD gives no credits of the specific singers, though I think it might have had Annette's name on Tall Paul.

I have that specific soundtrack stuff, too, only it's on a cassette tape, not a CD. Back then, we had no CD players, only phonograph records and cassette tapes.slave2moonlight wrote:I've got a CD with this one, and it also has a recording session version. Also, Tall Paul was made into a music video as part of the Disney Channel miniseries DTV in 1984. DTV, as you know, comprised of pop and rock songs of the 1950s, '60s, '70s and '80s, intertwined with Disney cartoons. In the case of Tall Paul, it contained mostly Paul Bunyan, a Disney short from 1958.

I remember that music video. It was from a VHS tape called DTV's "Golden Oldies". It also has "Pineapple Princess" as well along with "Lavender Blue" by Burl Ives from the movie "So Dear to My Heart". That was also from that DTV compilation VHS tape.Big Disney Fan wrote:Also, Tall Paul was made into a music video as part of the Disney Channel miniseries DTV in 1984.
