Roseanne's Final Season Makes it's DVD Debut on October 16th

Good news for all of us Roseanne fans! It has just been announced that the ninth and final season will be available on October 16, 2007.

Though it is a widely expressed opinion that the series went completely downhill during this season (mainly because Roseanne, herself, lost nearly all creative control of the series at this point), it will be nice to have all nine seasons in my collection.

Also, the cover art is advertising two "Tell-All Interviews", which I'm hoping are as interesting as they sound!

By the way, I'm especially looking forward to owning the two-part series finale! I consider that one of the best (if not the best) endings to a sitcom ever!

I like the ninth season ... it was wild and crazy!

I just hope they don't release a big complete series set after this LOL

I'm there! Even though this is my least favorite season, I still enjoy it. I still have to pick up Season 3 and Season 6. I'm hoping Best Buy will have another B1G1 free sale, like they have had for the last two releases. That way, I can pick up either Season 3 or 6 for free.

Well, with Anchor Bay the way it is now... "Tell All" is just a front. They will probably be 7 minutes a piece and only be snippets of the information we really need. The best thing to do would be to get Roseanne and most of the cast on an Audio Commentary for the last episode.

As for the season itself, yeah, it's kind of obvious why it's the least of the 9 seasons. Because it's the only one that contained outright bad episodes. But, like I said a ton of times, there are some very good points. Like the extention of D.J.'s character and his girlfriend (played by the amazing Heather Matarazzo). Worth picking up just for that reason. They really have to get every living member of the cast to do interviews for this season. To make up for any extras that didn't end up on the previous seasons.

I mean... Anchor Bay's had Roseanne for a little bit now. And the love they showed to shows like Xena: Warrior Princess was almost approaching "over the top" status. They never treated Roseanne that well. And then, the controversy over Syndicated episode replacements for the 1st season and whole sequences cut from the later seasons for music issues. Petty legality is really doing a huge disservice to one of the most important television series of the medium of television.

No such thing. :D
Just so you know, it took 'em two seasons to smart up and start making quality sets for Xena. I don't know how long they've had Roseanne for, but that could very well be the reason.

Well Laz, it's fair to say since Anchor Bay was bought out/merged with Starz, their product has on the whole taken a step down.

I'm just comparing the upcoming UK Masters of Horror with the previous sets:

Series 1 Vol 1 7 Discs
Series 1 Vol 2 6 Discs
vs the upcoming:
Series 2 Vol 1 7 Discs

Series 2 definitely comes off the worst. :x The same seems to be true of some of their most recent other releases too (But admittedly their Hellboy Animated releases have been good).

I doubt Xena or Hercules would get such good releases now (but I doubt Universal would pass on them now too, but Universal definitely wouldn't do much in the way of special features - except for "bonus" episodes from future seasons).
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Yeah- tragically the Masters of Horror discs have taken the biggest hit of all. About a week ago, I sat down and added up all the time for the bonus features for each of the 5 DVDs I had from the first season. 3 of the 5's video bonus features (not including the audio commentaries) totaled over 2 hours (Pick Me Up: 2 hours/38 minutes; Homecoming: 2 hours/33 minutes; Jenifer: 2 hours/26 minutes), and my 2nd season's DVD for The Screwfly Solution has 27 minutes total. That's it. 2 featurettes and 6 trailers + the 2 from the first season that never made it on any of the first season discs. Who knew that when Anchor Bay hooked up with a major studio they would finally start slumming.

Season 9 is the most disappointing season of the show, but I will still be picking it up to complete my collection. Glad to see it's being released so quickly after season 8.

TVShowsOnDVD.com has posted updated information about the bonus features of the final season of Roseanne! They have posted the back cover of the set, as well as a 3-D view of the front cover.

The two new "Tell-All" Interviews are titled:

-Legacy Of Class
-Breaking the Sitcom Mold

As well, it is revealed that there will be Video Commentary. It doesn't state on which episodes will have this feature.

They also state that Roseanne will be participating, as expected. Starz Entertainment are also trying to line-up other cast members to participate!

The extras on all the Roseanne sets have been very disappointing. I'm sure this one will be also. The video commentaries are really boring.

Oh well, I'm just glad we get the episodes. Hopefully nothing will be edited out like in Season 8.
