It's pretty hard to choose a favorite, but "You Are The Music in Me" is up there for me. But, all of the songs are great!
The bonus track on HSM's soundtrack, "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You", was not featured in the film, so I'm not sure if the bonus track on HSM2's soundtrack, "Humuhumunukunukuapua'a", is in the film or not, but it's quite a strange song. If it is in the film I don't know what context it's in, but, my friend, who knows nothing about the HSM world except the little I've told her (mentioning about a country club), mentioned that it could be a talent show song, and I told her that there will be a talent show in the sequel...but, if this is in the film, why is it a bonus track?
I can't wait until the movie premiere on Friday! 3 more days!!!
I also bought the HSM 2 soundtrack, but the special edition. The track listings are different from the regular version, on mine the song Humuhumunukunukuapua'a is not a bonus song, but instead I have "You are the Music in Me" by Sharpay.
I can see the "Humuhumunukunukuapua'a " song being fit in the movie, to me at least it sounds like they are doing a concert or a play at an event were they are working for there summer jobs. From the little bits I've seeon the Disney channel it looks like that work at a resort or something. Can't wait to see it on Friday!
I read on another site (Disney-x.net, I think) that it could come out November 27th. That's not on UD, and so I highly doubt that it's an official date, or at least they haven't announced it to the public yet.
**edit** Sorry, but there's already a HSM 2 thread- I knew this, but I initially made this to be a soundtrack thread...so I guess if the mods want to combine this thread with http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... sc&start=0
that'd make sense.
Just saw it. It was alright. This time around there is a lot more drama and it is more real. I think you guys will like it. As for me, I found some parts really annoying. The songs don't live up to the first movie, maybe just the first and last songs.

The Bonus Track is NOT in the movie.
By the way, look for Miley Cyrus at the end!
How on earth did you get to see an advanced screening? Did they have a Hollywood premiere like they did with the HSM DVD?? I'm so confused.
blackcauldron85 and Raider...I saw in the weekly circular that Target has an exclusive version of the soundtrack (they did with the Disneymania series too), which probably explains why you both have different bonus songs.

Target has a "special" edition of Aly & AJ's latest CD, too...their "special" editions are $2 more, and you get a ringtone, wallpaper, and poster, I think. I just bought the normal CD (of both CDs), since I don't think that's necessarily worth $2 more.
And, Raider's bonus track is on my CD, and my bonus track is on Raider's CD. So, they're not so "bonus"!

In the words of the Fairly Oddparents: internet.
If it makes you guys happier, the movie is an hour and 45 minutes.
I have seen the first about a million times. Two 6 year old nieces, watch it every time I babysit them, and never babysit them together. I loved the HSM Zack and Cody episode. Hope the sequel is good, as well.
I'm going to a local HSM II party dressed as Kelsi. Yes, Kelsi. Not Sharpay, not Taylor, and no, not Ms. Darbus. (All three characters were suggested to me. Kelsi was my idea.) I'll be a tall Kelsi with a very different face, but I digress. I absolutely loved the sweet, shy quirkiness that was Kelsi in the first movie. The bit with her and Sharpay near the end won me over. "Pianist here!" "You really don't want to do this." "Oh, yes. I really do." She reminds me of (a cute little girl version of) some classic animated side characters that I truly love. From what I've seen of the previews, she has terrific outfits in HSM II.
Anyway. Yes, I'm looking forward to the movie- especially since I hear that Kelsi actually sings this time around!
I like Kelsi, too. Sharpay's my favorite, but I'm nothing like her- I'm a mix of Gabriella & Kelsi. Have fun at your party! I'm going to a non-themed party, but there will be pizza!
Kelsi sings in...*don't read if you don't want to know!*:
"Work This Out" & "You Are the Music in Me". I'm not sure if she's part of the chorus in other songs or not (we'll find out tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
I never met to be missing in action- just got busy. But thank you, and I certainly plan to have fun!
I am indeed a mixture of Sharpay, Taylor, and Ms. Darbus (thus the character recommendations from my friends), and yet Kelsi is my favorite character by far. I -think- I remember her singing a bit in the previews of "You Are the Music in Me," but I'm not sure.
Okay, beware for SPOILERS. I'm not going to hold back so seriously, don't read.
I've just seen the movie, and here are some of my random thoughts.
Likes:
Ryan. I felt he finally came to his own in this movie. He got away from Sharpay and was all the better for it. Also like this because it was hinted at in HSM.
Fabulous. Has nothing to do with the story and could be left out in a second, but I just can't hate a song with such a great title ^^
Sharpay. Primo bitch.
Zac Efron looks a lot better than he did in HSM.
It's still true to the DCOM-formula. You don't have to think, you just have to watch. Great for those I-don't-feel-like-doing-anything-moments.
Details. There were a couple of cool details, like Troy still having the picture Gabriella took at New Year's Eve pop up on his phone.
Kelsi got more screentime, which is good.
Dislikes:
I don't like how Ryan was paired up with the 'look at me and what do you see?' girl from Stick To The Status Quo during the last two songs. Are they suggesting those two are an item now? That'd really piss me off.
Sharpays character ark seems forced. She was a bitch, then she wasn't. Then she was again, and at the end of the movie, she redeems herself. Again. It's just not believable. I did like how she was utterly alone at one point.
The songs didn't fit in with the rest of the movie the way they did in HSM. They were overproduced and I didn't believe for one second that the characters were singing. It felt like the movie was paused to watch a videoclip. This was especially noticable with Bet On It.
All for one felt like an afterthought. Like 'we can't end the movie with a quiet scene, we need a big group song. It just felt awkward.
Troys storyline reminded me too much of Read It And Weep (A)
On the whole, I didn't enjoy it as much as HSM. It's still a DCOM though, perfect for lazy afternoons. Besides, the songs from HSM have had about a year to grow on me, maybe the HSM2-songs will do the same.
Though I can't say that I was a huge fan of the first installment, I'm actually looking forward to watching this. I've heard great things about it, so here's to hoping that it's as good as they say!
from what i've seen on youtube, i was pretty disapointed. especially with bet on it. what the hell was going on there? fabulous was pretty much the same. they kept looking straight at the camera, as if it was a music video or something! that didnt happen in the first one. =/
