favorite overall disney soundtrack

Post by REINIER »

We all have our favorite songs, but wich soundtrack almost gets burnt every time you put it in your cd player.
My personal favorite:
The Emperor's New Groove/ Brother Bear
When it comes to brains, I got the lion-share,
but when it comes to bruth strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool

The Country Bears, no doubt in my mind what-so-ever. It would be even better if we could just get rid of Krystal's "The Kid in You" which is by far the weakest and a song I don't really think fits either the movie or the soundtrack.

I have neglected my CD collection for a long time now, but my favorite was possibly the Lion King soundtrack. I adore Jodi Benson's voice, but we don't get THAT much of it in the Little Mermaid soundtrack really. I did used to listen to the soundtrack of the Little Mermaid TV series a lot though, along with the Disney Afternoon Soundtrack. My favorite Disney soundtrack though is really the "Official Album of Disneyland and Walt Disney World," which is the old one that has all those eerie EPCOT songs on it! Unfortunately, I only have it on cassette still. It's hard to get the CD new off Ebay for a good price, but I will eventually. I LOVE those old EPCOT songs!

I was pretty disappointed in the Country Bears movie, but it's not completely unwatchable and I'll admit that the Bears had the best songs. They had occasional good guests who didn't even sing, and some of the ones that did left me wondering, "Who is this person anyway?" I think they definitely took the wrong approach in that movie. The least they could have done was focused more on Country. I realize they were trying to be an Eagles type band (hey, my favorite band), but if they were going to make a movie based on the attraction, they should have based it on the attraction, even if only park addicts would notice. I still say that should have been a 2D animated film.

Your 100 % right!

Why is it that only you and I think that could work?

It has so much potential that it is a real shame to see the final result.
In defense, the movie isn't without it's charms.

I don't know. I think they could have made a great 2D movie with character designs taken right from the attraction's characters and music more in the style of the show too. They could still have the "saving Country Bear Hall" plot, but they could keep the story in the woods. Or they could have the band hit the road too, but the main characters shouldn't have lost the look and feel of the attraction! With the live-action flick, I was more disappointed in the look of the bears than anything. Well, and some of the numbers of course.

I'd say the best things it had going for it were a few really funny humans in the cast, like Christopher Walken and Diedrich Bader (sp?). Amazing they got Walken for the villain, just a shame that they didn't make a better film for him to be in!

it doesn't matter what you thought of the movie, the John Haitt's songs were superb (I'm actually still livid none were even submitted to the Academy for Best Original Song) and the "bought in" songs were selected with great care and attention (except for Krystal :P )

I suggest you try and get hold of the soundtrack CD where you can listen to everything in full and uninterrupted and see what a treasure this soundtrack is.

And I loved the film. So there. (But I have no emotional ties to the theme park attraction at all).

Again, coulden't agree more.
The look of the bears should be more like Boog (Sony's Open Season)
That kind of slapstick too!

Alass we shall probably never see what this could be like.

It bugs me to see that for every good idea that comes out of the House of Mouse ten bad ones usually follow.

I know that's being negative, but still Disney pursues on trashing everything that's good about their franchise.

The animated tv shows being one of my main concerns
(altough have to admitt, that aside from animation i love
The Emperor's New School)
:D

:o ...and exactly WHERE can I get myself a copy?? Anyways, I really like a mix. That's why my favorites are all 5 volumes of the Classic Disney CDs. My favorite is probably either Vol. 1.

I would say Aladdin, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid. But it's really difficult to choose only one. I think that the Aladdin soundtrack would be my favorite.

Aladdin, the scores on the soundtrack are wonderful. I love Hercules' sort of Motown feel.

Well, The Little Mermaid's almost always in my player. Mostly, I like to listen to "Poor Unfortunate Souls," closely followed by "Part of That World." The score's great, too, especially "Main Titles."

Apart from that, I usually have the Classic Disney set playing. And, now that I think of it, I need to get The Jungle Book's CD. Last time I watched it, I realized how good it was ("My Own Home" and "That's What Friends Are For" being the highlights for me).

Listening to most often lately:
Christina Aguilera ~ "Cruz"
Sombr ~ "homewrecker"
Megan Moroney ~ "Beautiful Things"
