I think Shere Khan is Disney's greatest male villain - perhaps tied with Captain Hook. No other Disney villain is quite so suave and sophisticated. One of the things that amazes me about the animation of Shere Khan is that live action reference was not used, yet there's never any question that he is a three-dimensional, moving, believable entity on the screen. Milt Kahl really was an amazing draughtsman.

'Trust in Me' has to be one of the great Disney Villain songs. Though I wasn't too fond of the use of Sterling Holloway's voice for Winnie the Pooh (I know, I'm the only person in the universe who thinks that!), I think, as Kaa, he was brilliant.

I kind of agree with MagicMirror about using Pooh's voice for a villain. But at the same time I kind of see why they did that. I love Shere Khan, it seems like he was pushed back a bit when Scar came onto the scene though, or at least IMO.

A pity, considering that what Scar doesn't owe to Jafar he owes to Shere Khan (with a teensy bit left over from Prince John)!
