OK, Let me first say that I ABSOLUTELY FREAKING LOVE Walt Disney Wolrd and any chance I get I always go no matter what. I love it more than any place in the entire world and REALLY, REALLY wan't to work there someday and I become REALLY, REALLY, pissed when something (Universal, Sea World) get in my way of going there. I rarely ever get a chance to go and when I do I have to worry about someone deciding they want to go to some other lame-ass place instead. I have been to Universal and Sea World A Million, Gazillion, Trillion, Shibbidibbityiliongen times and I hardly ever get to go to the Happiest Place On Earth! I don't yet drive so I can't go whenever I want but I have a Job and I can pay for my own things.
Now, let me explain. My grandfather has been planning for a long, long time to pay for my aunt and my little cousin to come down to florida and take us all to WDW in October. My aunt lives in Michigan and does not have alot of money to come down to visit so my grandpa has been saving for a long time to pay for it. well, My family just recently went to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel and we got passes for both Universal and Islands of Adventure. Now don't get me wrong, It was cool and all and I like Universal but to me NOTHING can compare to WDW. There is just something so Magical about it, Like no other place I've ever been in the world and I was looking so forward to going with my little cousing who is 4 and I know he would really love it. well anyways, after we got back from Universal the Inevitable happened, My mom goes "Hey, What would you say If we ended up going to Universal instead" First thing in my mind was "HELL NO!". I'd already been through this before when freaking Sea World almost Jeopardized my last chance to go to WDW. I'm like what about Kuper (My Cousin). He's only 4 and I know he'd like WDW so much more, Theres so much more for someone his age to do there. And my moms like "Oh, He won't care, He's only 4. He won't know the difference." BULL SH*T! I was 4 when I first went to WDW and the next day we went to Universal and I liked it but I loved WDW SOOOO MUCH MORE. My grandpa and my aunt Said they don't really care either way and My little sister even wants to go to WDW. My mom is planning the trip and so far no concrete plans have been made, but I must do something before se turns to the Dark Side of the Force and all hope for the galaxy is lost.
Basically, I need to convince my mom that WDW is the way to go.
Anybody have any suggestions.

If you really love it, you'll do best to keep believing in that illusion and NOT work there. Ever. Everything changes once you work, and some of the magic (some, not all) is lost.Jungleprince_55 wrote:I love it more than any place in the entire world and REALLY, REALLY wan't to work there someday
Go on a hunger strike until she agrees to WDW.Jungleprince_55 wrote:Basically, I need to convince my mom that WDW is the way to go.

That or convince her that food and parking is cheaper (it isn't, but maybe she won't notice).
And if all else fails, use the whole "Disney is for little kids, he'll know more characters in WDW than in Universal" excuse. A load of bollocks, but if your mom believes your cousin wouldn't care between Disney and Universal, she'll fall for that line too.

Personally I didn't like universal studios - I think probably because all the rides seemed to be simulators to me. There were no big roller coasters or anything there. I know Islands of Adventure has them, but it's just not as fun as Disney. Disney doesn't have loads of roller coasters either, but all the rides are fun and well themed. To me, Universal is just another theme park, but come on! Disney World is the most magical place on earth (apart from santa's house and a few other places), if I was taking a 4 year old to Florida for this trip I would SERIOUSLY make Disney World the very top of my list of priorities.
Please, make sure your Mom knows that Disney World is an amazing experience - show her pictures of characters, get her to watch disney movies, do anything!!!! Just make sure that little boy gets to Disney World - he'll have the most amazing childhood memories there. And yes, I guarantee he WILL know the difference. I went on vacation when I was 3 and I can still remember bits of it. My brother is 4 and he is always asking to go to Disneyland - he's never even heard of universal studios, the only characters he'd know there were the ones from Shrek!!

My brother-in-law & his family came down to visit a month or so ago- they have 2 kids, ages 6 and 5 (I think). They've been to WDW before, but they were on a strict budget this time, so they went to Universal and SeaWorld. My heart was broken. I don't want them going to the dark side.
I would say, show your mom DisneyWorld.com for starters. Show her all that there is to do there. Show her the different ticketing options, and how you save money with the Magic Your Way. And, the dining plan is going on now (I'm not sure how long it'll last), so you can get a better value for food. And, Disney is more magical!!!!!!! If your mom likes shopping, tell her about Downtown Disney (and- it's free!), where you can shop till you drop!

Wow your passion and enthusiasm of your post makes me wonder why your mother is trying to deny you and your family a trip to WDW.
You should order the FREE WDW vacation planning video. It should get your family excited to go to Walt Disney World and NOT Universal.

It arrives pretty quickly. I think I got it a week after I placed the order.
