Unacknowledged Disney Stars

Post by Prince Phillip »

Well instead of going into a big speach about characters being over looked and such, I am just going to say something about each character incase you have no idea what I am talking about...
Here they are:

Daisy Duck- Debuted as Donna Duck in Don Donald. Poor Daisy has always been over looked, even though she is Minnie's bestfriend and Donald's girlfriend. (I like Daisy even more than Minnie) In 1999, Disney came out with the saturday mourning cartoon Mouse Works. It was in this cartoon that a real personality and all was maped out for Daisy, and the "Fab Five" became the "Sensational Six". Though I hardly ever see or hear of Daisy outside of this. In 2001, the Mouse Works cartoons, were transfered to a new show House of Mouse, where Mickey and Donald co-own a night club. (Daisy is the receptionist. I personally like the duet Daisy and Mickey sing together, however, in order to be a good friend to Minnie, Diasy fakes breaking a leg to allow Minnie to perform the song with Mickey, thus giving up her big break. Ofcourse Minnie wound up screwing up the song  )

Clara Cluck- In many of the cartoons that feature Clara Cluck, she is a singer. There was a good cartoon, with her and Donald singing an Oprah.

Horace Horse Collar- Before the times of Goofy and Donald, Horace was Mickey's right hand man. A no nonsense tough guy, you get on his bad side and he will give you a knuckle sandwhich.

Clara-Belle Cow- Possibly around even longer than Horace, it's possible she was in Plan Crazy. Clara-Belle always played the part of Minnie's confidant, someone Minnie could rely on and take compfort in her companionship. I would not compare this to Minnie and Daisy's girlfriend relationship.

There is a really nice cartoon on the Mickey BW dvd, wear Mickey, Minnie, Horace and Clara-Belle are all on a picnic together. It really features Horace and Clara-Belle.

Peter Pig- He is only in one that I am sure about. (Wise Little Hen) Opposite Donald, in his debut. Frankley this is all I need too see of this character.

BW Ostritch- For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, there is an Ostritch in the early BW Mickey shorts. Mickey rides him in Galloping Gaucho, and He also star in Fire Fighters along side Mickey and Horace. A cute chacter, I wouldn't mind seeing him again.

I voted for Clara-Bell Cow, just by virtue of the fact she is a cow and I like cows.

So there. :P

Horace HorseCollar!

There's an interesting read about an aborted Disney television series "Maximum Horsepower" featuring Horace here:

Well I personally think "Disney Babies" could have been cool. I remeber growing up with the Muppet Babies, which was a great show. I don't think they were taking the right approach to go about it though.
As much as I love the character of Horace Horse Collar and would like to see him again, the "Maxiam Horse Power" show really doesn't appeal to me. The premise sounds cool, for the 1990's but Horace would have been zapped from the 30's or 40's. I just don't think it would have worked, because of the time it was meant to be seen in. Now if it happen today to Horace, maybe he was trying to revitalize his carreer and all, and he eventually got zapped back that would be cool, but to explain away his character as being zapped away... Does this mean no more Horace outside of the show??? Well maybe he will have a chance to be spotlighted in the future. DTA should do more movies like Prince and Pauper and 3 Muskettiers, that can show off the mouse and his crew, including the forgotten.
Personally I would love to see all the characters from the poll again, except for Peter Pig, unless he gets the axe :!: Can you tell I don't like that character  .
Anyway feel free to mention any characters that aren't already listed.
One more thing, I am so happy that Daisy is finally seeming to get some air time, thanks to the House of Mouse. I think I have even seen Ms.'s Cluck and Belle and Mr. Collar, but nowhere near as much as they should be shown.

Definitely Cluck! I died laughing the first time she sang, thinking she would speak English like the other characters. I do believe Horace and Clara would be interesting just to get to know them better, but Minnie has pretty much earned popularity as the first lady of Disney.
What would this wretched world be like without Disney?

I do agree about Daisy though. Heck, I'd like to see all the characters together again, including a very funny, small dog (human character)whose name I don't know.
