Wonder when Sony will release Spider-Man 3.5.
I thought Spider-Man 3 was a really great movie...being a Vemon fan.
Going to pick it up on the first day when it's release.

Well, given that a sequel for Ghost Rider is about as likely as a Beatles reunion, Sony likely wanted to get as much out if the movie's only DVD/Blu-Ray release. With Spidey, now that there's the inevitable Spidey4, they're holding back, or at least expecting consumers to buy the movie again (as some did when Spider-Man Deluxe Edition came out prior to the second movie's theatrical release, and when Spider-Man 2.1 came out prior to the third movie's tehatrical release).

I'll be getting the two-disc, it'll be a great addition to the action-musical-comedy genre. Right there next to Miss Congeniality.

I really hope there is an eventual extended edition or director's cut. While I could go on for ages about how I didn't like it, its not completely terrible. It did have its moments, but it felt like a lot of stuff was rushed or cut short.

The price of the Blu-Ray release seems sort of insane. $50?

For once the UK seems to be getting the better deal (£25 for the movie, and only £50 for the whole trilogy on BD).
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Spider-Man is the movie that got me into comic book/superhero movies in the first place, so I'm really fond of it...and Spider-Man 2 is one of my favorite films ever, but this is easily the most disappointing film I've seen this year. It had so much potential that got squandered simply because they overloaded it with too many villians, subplots and cheesy moments for it to breathe. Casting Sandman as Ben's real killer was an unnessecary misstep which diluted the emotion of the original film's sequences which it modified, and Raimi clearly did not understand the fan appeal of Venom and didn't know how to treat that character. (After the original film opened and introduced me to Spider-Man, I watched reruns of the '90s animated series on ABC Family and was particularly impressed with their Venom episodes.) Gwenn Stacy was just not interesting, and the Peter/MJ story would have been just as compelling without hee. The strongest portions of the film are those which involve Harry, and I hope that if a fourth film is made they take a lesson from the first two and focus on one villian without so many tangents. Because there is a really good movie buried in here amongst all the crap, trying to get out, and that's what makes the film not a complete failure. A fourth one, if good, will be able to redeem the franchise.

But all that said, of course I'm going to get the DVD anyway to complete the set and -- if only because the others are also two-disc sets -- I feel like I have to get the double-disc. This in particular is where I resent the new trend of single-and-double releases; when the other films have had exellent two-disc releases as standard, you'd think that they would finish the set the same way. But no! And it doesn't matter that they had exellent posters for this film; the cover concept is good, but they had to go use a very cartoony-lookng look which totally clashes with the photorealistic look of the other covers in this series. Not to mention the border on the two-disc, as well. (Nice artwork for the Blu-ray boxed set, though! And you've gotta notice their sneakyness in not making the two prior films available on Blu outside of the box, which effectively forces people to buy the much lousier third installment. I expect that was deliberate given the less-than-phenominal reception of the third movie.)

So, sigh -- yeah, I'll pick it up, but I'm not happy about the way it's being released.

Yeah the price of the Blu-ray is pretty much insane. I know it want be that much in stores on release week, but $50 for one movie is a lot.

I'll buy it used at some point, and get drunk and giggle hysterically at it. It will be a night well spent.

Oh, and to ogle at James Franco in his boxer briefs. That was my favorite part.

Really? I thinked I'd recall that bit. (But that 2nd Harry/Peter fight I did think was kind of hot.)

Anyway I will get the 2 disc but am very sad that they did not choose to make a gift set for this film like the other two.
