Complete Series Sets
Regardless, Laz, I trust you can still see what an insult this is from Paramount?
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

How can you be sure it's a terrible show if you've never bothered to watch it?Lars Vermundsberget wrote:Just two things:

Paramount is releasing this set? I did not know this. Well, at least we know from which stable Lynch gets the goats that he blows.2099net wrote:Regardless, Laz, I trust you can still see what an insult this is from Paramount?

Seriously, I'll admit that I have no idea.jennydumas wrote:How can you be sure it's a terrible show if you've never bothered to watch it?Lars Vermundsberget wrote:Just two things:

Also seriously, about fact and opinion: When someone claims that a certain show is bad (or good), that is basically within the realm of "opinion", not "fact (true/false)".

Everybody Loves Raymond, in another House package.

This is excellent news. I was planning on getting the season boxed sets for my sister for Christmas, but this is much better. She'll eat this up.jrboy wrote:Everybody Loves Raymond, in another House package.

What's the deal with all these complete series sets being released this year? On one hand, you can say it's a weird coincidence because even without the complete sets, most of these shows still have their final season released on DVD this year (Seinfeld, Raymond, Gilmore, Lucy, O.C., Full House, etc.). On the other hand, shows that already completed their series run on DVD are getting boxed sets, as well (Twin Peaks, Sherlock Holmes, Star Trek, etc.). Are the studios doing this to get all of these shows out of the way before HD/BD kicks into high gear for the general public?

Some of the ones I got are
The Lone Gunmen (I got the whole series at Walmart for $17)
Planet of the Apes: The Complete TV Series
Return to the Planet of the Apes: The Complete Animated Series
Da Ali G Show: Da Compleet Seereez
Of course these aren't big sets, just three or four discs apiece. I also got MacGyver but I bought each season seperately.
I am looking forward to the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles of which the first bunch is finally supposed to be coming out on DVD in October, followed by the second in January and the third in June when Indy IV comes out.

They finally announced the extras for the "Twin Peaks" boxset, and despite Paramount's acquirement of Lionsgate (which itself had acquired Artisan), none of the original Season One director's commentaries are carried over to the new set, and I don't think any of Season 1 or 2 featurettes were carried over either unless they were re-edited into the new ones.2099net wrote:Well, I found out yesterday that David Lynch himself is directing some (all?) of the supplements on the Twin Peaks Complete Series Set. Now, anyone who has only a passing interest in David Lynch will understand what a monumental occurance this actually is.
I really do feel like this is a slap in the face. Dedicated Twin Peaks fans have had to wait through stalled releases due to rights issues, unfulfilled promises of a release date that kept slipping and then (and at the time there was no talk of a complete series set) S2 released with next to no supplements (after LionsGate/Artisan did - admittedly - such a good job with the shorter S1).
And of course, what really irritates is that had S2 not sold, we wouldn't have even got a "Complete Series" set worked on and released.
Disc 1: Pilot
Discs 2 & 3: Season 1, episodes 1-7
Discs 4-9: Season 2, episodes 8-29
Disc 10: Bonus Materials
All the episode discs feature the Log Lady Introductions, some will feature deleted scenes, and production documents. The bonus materials all are on Disc 10:
Secrets from Another Place: Creating Twin Peaks (4 part documentary)
-Northwest Passage: Creating the Pilot
-Freshly Squeezed: Creating Season 1
-Where We're From: Creating the Music
-Into the Night: Creating Season 2
Featurettes:
-A Slice of Lynch - with David Lynch, Kyle MacLachlan, and Madchen Amick
-Return to Twin Peaks - a featurette about the fans and the 2006 Twin Peaks Festival
-Interactive Map (8 Pods) - a sort of "Now and Then" featurette on the Twin Peaks locales.

The can of worms has yet again been re-opened. It wasn't my fault...Lars Vermundsberget wrote:Also seriously, about fact and opinion: When someone claims that a certain show is bad (or good), that is basically within the realm of "opinion", not "fact (true/false)".
When it comes to a show like Gilmore Girls, bad-ness is a fact. Not an opinion.

That's a link to a better picture of the house packaging with an inside look at the individual seasons. I love these new sets, they look great and are so damn convenient (damn you marketers!). I might get this set, it will just look so great on my shelf! The OC one would too.
