Amazing review on the Esther Williams Collection, Luke. Five movies and a wealth of supplements... color me impressed! Other than knowing who she is, I knew next to nothing about Esther Williams prior to reading to your review and I feel quite educated on her now. I think you can probably be certified as an EW expert now, and to think that it's just Volume 1! I'm happy that TCM is getting involved with these kinds of collections on DVD now and look forward to what else the line will bring. It's really bizarre that essentially her entire catalog has been absent on DVD until now. Thanks for all the work and time you undoubtedly poured into this!
Great review of Pathfinder too, Kelvin. It's nice to see a new review from you. I'm just sorry it had to be on such a lame title. Sounds like the movie's pretty bad and -- not that I would have anyways -- but I definitely won't be wasting my time on it now.

Thank you, Aaron, for such kind feedback! Really glad to hear someone enjoyed that review because like you said, it definitely required a lot and I went into the set the same way as you.AwallaceUNC wrote:Thanks for all the work and time you undoubtedly poured into this!
Great job on all your latest reviews too! I always enjoy them; if they're things I've seen, I can identify with your comments and if they're not, then I feel compelled to see them and see where I stand. You really do an excellent job of analyzing and contextualizing a diverse group of films.
Just read the Premonition review, nice work, whoever wrote it. Sorry, can't remember who did.
Premonition is just being released here, and was wondering whether I should see it. It looks interesting, and since both Sandra and Julian are in it, I wanted to see it, but maybe I'll wait for a DVD rent or something. Thanks for the heads up guys.
Sorry, haven't read all the other reviews of late. I don't actually know any of those movies and actresses, never heard of them. Might read them, don't know if I will. Can't wait for the upcoming 8 Simple Rules and Home Improvement reviews. Oh and that penultimate Ellen review too.
Keep up the fantastic work everyone.

Woah. Space Ghost has a full length Alex Toth documentary? I'm glad I picked this up (but Lord knows when it will come what with Royal Mail having a series of wildcard strikes).
Looking forward to the Hot Fuzz review.

Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Thanks a lot, Just Myself. I know you were a big fan of Zodiac, so it means a lot that you enjoyed the review.
To Luke: Fantastic job on the "Benson" review. I loved the context you placed the show in, as well as all the cool references to related TV shows. I'm a fan of Susan Harris' and I have seen some "Soap", but never any of "Benson" that I can recall. After your review, it's on my list of things I'd be interested in checking out at some point, though not such a high priority. Thanks for continuing to inform us all on these awesome but sometimes overlooked '70s and '80s series.

Well, I had some free time and so I read the three most recent reviews on UD: "Muppet Show" S2, Disturbia, and "8 Simple Rules".
Luke, I thoroughly enjoyed your "Muppet Show" review! Reading the episode descriptions, I found that some of my favorite segments from our family's old "Muppet Moments" tape (the chicken version of "Baby Face", the Bernadette Peters song with Robin, Sam the Eagle with Zero Mostel, Sam's "Grasshopper and Ant" fable, etc.) came from a couple episodes in Season 2, making it a bigger priority for me to buy than Season 1! However, I think we'll have to agree to disagree concerning the musical aspect of the show, as those were always my favorite parts (the chicken "Baby Face" is an in-joke with me and Kram). Still, it's a top-notch review of a top-notch show.
A
for Luke!
Aaron, I was originally only interested in renting Disturbia, but your review gives a great analysis of the film and I'm inclined to blindbuy it now. I really liked how you were able to compare it to Rear Window (one of my favorite Hitchcocks, along with Suspicion and North by Northwest), but also making sure to note how it's a contemporary movie that also stands on its own merits and doesn't really need that comparison. Also, the DVD commentary sounds like a lot of fun, so I'm sure it'll get played sooner than later by me.
A
for Aaron!
And finally, Albert Gutziwhoever, you have a really stupid opinion about "8 Simple Rules". I don't know how you managed to sit through all the episodes, that show is such a waste of airtime and it's a pity that John Ritter's career had to end on such a lousy note. Why oh why did you heap such praise onto such garbage? It's sad, it really is. Just another predictable sitcom with more predictable characters. Shame on you for recommending it and giving it 4 and a quarter stars.
No pink elephant for you, you get a
instead.

And if anyone new to UD (and maybe some old-time UDers too) is wondering why I'm so harsh to the "8 Simple Rules" reviewer...just figure out his internet alias, and you'll understand.

Good Muppet Show Season 2 review Luke! I really liked it and I am glad that everything is uncut.
I am a little sad though, that Luke considers the music parts to be a bit lame or not highly entertaining, but that's personal taste.
I think that Luke's favorite episodes will be mine too, although I might make the Rudolf Nureyev my top favorite, since Nureyev is just great, one of the best classic dancers of the century.

Great review of "The Muppet Show" Season 2 ... I am definitely picking it up tomorrow ...
Now ... not to nitpick ... (ducking down) ... it's "Pigs In Space" ... not "Pigs from Space" ... (still ducking) ...

Just read some of the recent reviews, nice work on 8 Simple Rules- Season 1, and Vacancy. I just went to the front page of this thread though and saw that a review of Sabrina the Teenage Witch- Season 2 is coming up. That's fantastic, can't wait for it.
Anyway, keep up the great work, they're truly fantastic reviews.

Hey there guys, have been deligently reading the last reviews, must say that I loved the Ugly Betty and Sabrina ones. Especially with the Sabrina one, a lot of hard work must have gone into that, and I'd just like to say how much I appreciate it. Sucks about all the replacements though. Can't wait for the DH, GA and B and S reviews.
Keep it up guys.

Just wanted to drop a line and say that all the recent reviews have been excellent and top-notch as usual! Of the reviews that have cropped up in recent weeks, I had a lot of fun reading the Blades of Glory one. Mainly because I disagree with the majority of it, as I hated the movie, but it's always a joy to read the opposite opinions. I also really liked the "Ugly Betty" review, but I was a bit disappointed that they didn't include those telenovela clips (seen in the episodes, and found in full at Ugly Betty's online ABC page) on the DVD.
Other notables that I've read in full and really enjoyed:
The Lookout
Sabrina: Season 2
The Playhouse Disney titles - I get such a kick out of these!
I'll get to the rest eventually, and I'm looking forward to the next batch of reviews, but in the meantime, keep up the good work, UDers!!!
