Who enjoys this excellent vampire horror comedy classic of the 80's? i certainly do but one thing that always bothers me is that, why does Corey Haim have a shirtless poster of Rob Lowe on his closet door? straight boys don't have that.

Great movie!
I never noticed the poster thing though.. I'll have to check it out, unless its been edited out on the special edition that was a joke.
I remember thinking the brunette girl was a hottie, but I don't remember what she looks like now.... oh and that ending with grampa is totally priceless... I just remember something about " all the damn vampires"..

Great poster, though. I actually never knew he had that kind of a body.

That was a touch added by the director. On the audio commentary, he mentions that after directing Rob Lowe in St. Elmo's Fire, he saw that poster of Rob somewhere, thought it was "shameless" of him, bought it, and just put it there for kicks.


I like the movie, for the most part. But Corey Haim is very annoying in it. It's hard to watch the teenage loner angst rebel introverting dark-side wild-nights party-life stuff, accept the dramatic and cool nature of it... Then watch a scene where Corey Haim runs around screaming, "Oh, you wait until Mom finds out! Who's David?! Don't eat anyone until we get back to you!" The fact of the matter is, the comedy goes too far into the drama. I believe that would be called: Heavy-Handed, if it were to be labeled. The actor playing Grandpa is good though, he actually seems to know how to handle the comedy without ruining the film's mood. Corey really ruins the mood in the scenes in the second half of the movie.

But the horror works fantastically. That scene where David takes Michael out 'to make his first kill' is pure excellence. Not just in the special effects / gore, which are great, but it's exceptionally edited, scored, and photographed. It's equally repellent, exciting, and scary.

Yeh, i think Sam (Corey Haim's character) is obvisiously gay with not only that shirtless Rob Lowe poster in his room but also having bubblebaths and singing about can't getting a man.

Really? I always kind of shrugged it off. I mean, hasn't the gay community been through enough without adding an irritating Corey Haim movie character to the list of suffrages...
