I've never had a need to get in touch with them but they have been putting a customer support phone number right on the discs for a while now.
When I got home my MSS discs were here. Besides the discs there was a return label and what looks like a generic sheet enquiring about whatever defective disc(s) you're sending back. I'm sending the orig. discs back in the padded mailer the replacements arrived in.

Ka-Chow!
This is good news. My letter box need not be tear-stained for much longer. For months now, I've been looking at the mail each day, hoping DVDs with the shiny new prints will be there; but to no avail. But just when I'm about to lose all hope, I think of Snow White and her boundless confidence in the future; or, as she herself said, "Someday my prints will come".
Thank you, I'm here all week, try the veal.

Through the years, I've had a number of discs replaced, simply by calling the number on the DVD and talking to the person on the other end. My advice would be to simply ask the representative (excuse me, cast member) your question, rather than have all of us speculate. I've gotten replacement discs for a number of reasons--from a nonworking Dinosaur disc to a peculiarly-manufactured Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad one, as well as the Legacy discs. Sometimes they've wanted the original disc back first; sometimes they send the replacement first.slave2moonlight wrote:Oh, and one question for anyone who may know. If we have problems with other Disney DVD discs, can we just call them up for replacements, or does it have to be something they've officially announced a replacement offer for?

How do non US owners bet these discs?
I am in the UK and bought the set when it came out but I want to know how I get these replacement discs as I doubt Disney will send them out of the USA being that the set should only be available in the US and Canada due to copyright reasons.
I also cannot phone a 1-800 or 0-800 number from the UK.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Nick

Sure there is no problem. I´m living in Sweden and I had no trouble at all to replace my discs in the True Life Adventure series that were defect.carrpentersboy1 wrote:I am in the UK and bought the set when it came out but I want to know how I get these replacement discs as I doubt Disney will send them out of the USA being that the set should only be available in the US and Canada due to copyright reasons.
You simply fill in their "reporting an defect disc" form on their site and they will send them to you. You must leave the numbers that are on your actual discs to prove that you really have them.
They didn´t want me to send the defect discs back, but I can not say for sure that this will not happen all the time.

Uh, you might want to WATCH them since the replacements are due to content rather than external appearance. They SHOULD look identical. I believe the issue for content, and the reason for replacement, was for a scene missing from one of the Christmas shorts, incorrect title cards being used on the old discs, and possibly a more restored version of "Goddess of Spring."JoeyOhhhh wrote:So, how can we tell the difference between the new discs and the old ones? I received my replacements yesterday and the discs look identical. Any ideas?

I received the replacement discs on Friday. In this thread, we discussed the problem with Silly Symphonies if anyone wants to review.

What do you do when you receive the replacement discs in the mail:
On the questionnaire, it asks you to explain what is wrong with the original discs. From this in same thread above:
As far as I know, the ONLY reason Disney recalled the discs was to fix the title cards, so none of the other problems were addressed, this includes the famed "tilting problem." See this thread:

What do you do when you receive the replacement discs in the mail:
Be sure you look for that postage-paid return postcard - it looks like a piece of junk mail. Be sure to send your discs back, if you got such a card. (The postcard is actually a self-stick label - peel off the backing) If not, check with customer service on how to return your discs. We don't want to ruin the honor system with Disney! As for what to put on the questionnaire, I am going to put "problems with title cards. Discs were recalled by Disney."garmonbozia wrote:If you were just sent one of those return forms in a regular envelope then you need to send your faulty discs in first. If you received the replacement discs in a padded envelope with the return form, then they are hoping you will honor the exchange and send your faulty discs back with the prepaid label provided. Perhaps people with a more detailed history in their system got the honor method. If they don't send their bad discs back though, I suspect it will be the last time Disney sends them the replacements first.

MK Sharp wrote:It was mostly an issue of non-original title cards, but a few shorts had other issues. The Night Before Christmas has a black-face edit in it, and The Goddess Of Spring was from a lousy transfer. From memory about half the shorts needed title-card recreations. Springtime was one where the title card was shown in the Leonard Maltin introduction but not on the short itself. The Moth And The Flame had some very strange stuff going on with its end card, too.

OK, I've received the discs here in Australialand and taken a cursory look at them. The following issues have been resolved:Pluto Region1 wrote:As far as I know, the ONLY reason Disney recalled the discs was to fix the title cards, so none of the other problems were addressed, this includes the famed "tilting problem." * Recreated title cards on all the shorts that had re-issue cards
* Missing scene in The Night Before Christmas showing a toy Amos and Andy taxi pulling a trailer full of blackface dolls who shout 'Mammy!' reinstated.
* End card for The Moth And The Flame fixed so it's now full-screen.
* Shorts on Disc 1 re-ordered so that they are now actually in chronological order on the menus and in the "Play All Chronologically" option. (Some of the 1930 shorts were erroneously listed as 1932 on the original release.)
I haven't had time to compare versions of The Goddess Of Spring yet. At first glance it looks a bit shinier than the previous version, but I'll post more detail (and screenshots) later tonight.
As regards the "infamous tilting problem", I still maintain that it's a player fault rather than an authoring fault. As I could never see the "fault" on my equipment anyway, I'll leave that to others to determine whether the problem on their TV sets has gone away.
EDIT: Oh, and because I live a long long way from Neenah WI, I haven't been asked to send my old discs back. So now I've got a set for everyday use and a spare set for good...

Did anyone who received the replacement discs also receive an e-mail from Disney that the discs were being sent (like with the replacement of the Legacy Collection discs)??
I have a confirmation e-mail for filling out the replacement discs request form on the site for the Silly Symphonies, but have not received an e-mail stating the discs will be sent soon.
I live in The Netherlands and haven't received the dics yet (as of Sunday evening). Since now they are being received I just hope I will receive them this week too. I nobody did receive an e-mail just prior to receiving the discs, I'm a little more confident that I will receive the discs soon.

No email here, just the discs arriving though the post.
Speaking of the discs... I've knocked up a graphically detailed comparison of the old and new discs here.
It all looks good, aside from something odd going on with The Goddess Of Spring. It's not terrible, just slightly annoying.

So, I must say THANK YOU AGAIN MKSHARP!!! Your comparison of the two More Silly Symphonies has convinced me to have my disks replaced. If the current set only had the issue with title cards, I would be strongly tempted to forgo any type of replacement. (After all, MSS is my favorite Treasure set, and I don't want it getting lost in the mail- that is my worst fear...
). But with the knowledge of the censorship with Night Before Christmas (again, one of my favorite shorts on the disks!!) I decided to go through with my first disk replacement.
So, I just got off the phone with the Disney rep, and I must say: I was REALLY impressed! Disney handles the customer service phone thing MUCH better than Warners does!! I called Disney, pressed the coresponding numbers, and immediately got someone on the line! Unlike WB where I waited for around 15 minutes and got nowhere and the informant person constantly stating that: "All lines are currently busy"...grrr.
Anyway...after you guys sent in your DVD's, how long does it take to get the replacements? Or, for that matter, about how long does it take to get the pre-paid envelope to send in the old disks? The reason I ask is because in less than a month now, I will be going off to college and I know that my parents will not want to deal with mailings from Disney...or with sending me the replacements...

MY "FAB FOUR": 1- FANTASIA, 2- THE LION KING, 3- BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, 4- THE JUNGLE BOOK

Go right ahead.Okie Tigger wrote:Wow. Thanks for that MK. That's very impressive. Would it be okay to post that link over at HTF? I know they'd like to see that over there.
I've added another section after I noticed that The Night Before Christmas is now in the vault. Or, to be slightly more correct, after I remembered that it wasn't in the vault on the original version, which I found slightly surprising at the time, what with it having a humorous "soot-covered child looks a little bit like a black person" gag.

Is that all you have to do? It says on their site that you should register the discs in order to be qualified for replacements. However, I couldn't log in with my Disney.fi ID to register the discs, and customers outside of North America are asked to register at their local Disney sites. Confusing.Chernabog wrote:You simply fill in their "reporting an defect disc" form on their site and they will send them to you.
