Complete Series Sets
The "Star Trek: The Next Generation" Complete Series Set thread has me thinking... I've never purchased a complete series set before, but have been tempted to. Even though they're an all-around better value, it seems like such a large amount of cash to have to pay all at once. And then on top of that, they seem like they'd be difficult to house with the rest of your DVD collection.
Which series have issued Complete Series sets? I'm not talking about all of a show's individual releases just bound together or about shows that only ran for one or two seasons and were packaged in a single volume. The only ones I can think of are "Friends", "Star Trek: The Next Generation", "The West Wing", "The Brady Bunch", "I Love Lucy", and "Sex and the City". I'm sure there are others, though.
I'd like to compile a list of all these series sets that are available. Anyone know of any others? Also, which ones do you own, if any? How does everyone else feel about these?

Possibly. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by Complete Series Set, but Macgyver could be one. I'm not sure, but I guess you could just click the link to make sure. I don't have any Complete Series sets, but hope Universal doesn't do one for "Heroes" when it finally ends. "Heroes" is the first series that I have ever bought on DVD, so I hope I won't have to pay a whole lotta cash to get some more bonus features. I don't like to spend extra money, so I guess that would be my feelings about CSS.

"The West Wing" - The Complete Series

"The Brady Bunch" - The Complete Series

"Sex & the City" - The Complete Series

"Star Trek: The Next Generation" - The Complete Series

"I Love Lucy" - The Complete Series

Thanks! And wow, that's quite the impressive collection. I think I'm going to sell all my "Friends" box sets, which will basically pay for me to buy the collector's set.Rowlf_The_Dog wrote:Homicide: Life on the Street ... MASH ... I really want the Gilmore Girls boxed set, but unless I hear that it contains extra material besides the booklet, I'll stick with my season sets. I'm hoping WB does what they did for Friends: include a mail-in form in the final season set to purchase the case separately. If they do this, I'll gladly shell out a few bucks to purchase the dollhouse packaging, which shouldn't be as girly as it sounds if they modeled it after the one Lorelai has.
As for TV show boxed sets in general, I've never actually bought one before. Like I indicated in above paragraph, I was able to buy this box to house all my Friends season sets in, though it's not quite the same thing:

The I Love Lucy set coming conveniently the day before my birthday will be my first TV series boxed set purchase. I've halted buying Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie in the slim chance they, too, receive lavish sets when all their seasons are out.
I wish Disney would do more sets like these (their only one so far is Alias). I'd love to see one made for Golden Girls, but that's not very likely, I suppose.

I AM GOING TO VOMIT. That is honestly one of the most depraved things I have ever heard in my entire life. $258+CHANGE for one of Television's worst programs of all time? They should be giving that awful tripe away! Yet, you pay over $200 for only 7 seasons????!!!!!!!????!!!? People are sick, they will literally pay for anything won't they? Out their ears!jrboy wrote:http://www.videobusiness.com/article/CA6461120.html

As soon as I get the money, I would really like to buy the Complete Friends series on DVD. I've really wanted to make that my next TV on DVD collection, and you can't beat the price on the whole set. Amazon.com has it listed for $159.99, which is $16 per season.

I'd say that's pretty likely, given how successful the series is on DVD. It's definitely something I'll want. Still, I think I'll keep buying the season sets as I'm ready to move on to a new one (still on Season 3). I can always sell the season sets later and apply that money to the complete set.Anthony wrote:Someday I'm hoping for complete series sets on Murder, She Wrote

I'd like to get the Will and Grace series set, from the UK, the Six Feet Under series set- hopefully we get it in Australia soon, that fuzzy grass looks great!-, that fantastically packaged Full House series set and the Gilmore Girls series set. No matter what you say Lazariop, it's a witty and funny show, and I watch it every week here in Australia (we're still up to season five.
). I hope the box keeps in theme with the season sets. The I Love Lucy set is tempting too, but I'd actually rather get that Friends set. I'd like to get that black one eventually, that other one looks nice but doesn't really interest me, since it's not packaged in seasons. That Sex and the City set looks great too, would love to get that. That Brady Bunch set looks cool too, but never much liked the series. The movies are funnier.

It's more like, "no matter what James says," Gilmore Girls suck. That's all there is to it.

I love Murder She Wrote ... I have been collecting the seasons as they have come out ...
There are only a handful of series I would ever double dip for (as in purchase the complete series after I have purchased the seasons) ... and this would be one that I would purchased a complete series set ...
