Why do I have to live in a country where everything is dumbed down and pandered to the lowest common denominator? *huff*
Is sophistication nonexistent in the U.S. now? Grr.... Disney may do a good job with their animated feature dvds, but their (American) cover art (or any other promotional art, for that matter...) seems to be getting worse and worse. Oy...
Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: "Too late."
If you don't like the covers with wich the films are released, why not check out the Disney Animation section of http://www.dvdcoverart.com.
They have some REALLY nice, numbered and MATCHING covers made by a guy named Chris Elder. Have a look!
Here's a preview:
edit: dvdcoverart did not allow the preview
I should probably point out though that far from all classics have been given the deluxe treatment so far. I have about 15 of these on my shelf, they are AMAZING! These covers can be printed out professionally by using the services of DV-DEPOT. (http://www.dv-depot.com)[/i]

Maybe I'm missing something, and maybe I'm just confused, but you're saying that the German cover 2099net posted at the top of the post is so much nicer than the US cover, but isn't it the same? It's the same as the Canadian cover, and since both countries are R1, I doubt they'd be different.
Uncle Remus wrote:HEY why isnt there a 2 disc collector's edition DVD for Treasure Planet in the US? this seems a little unfair.
The French Treasure Planet disc is the same bar a few differences - it has a (French) DTS language track (but still has an English DD 5.1 track too), no trailers and an extra music video (The French language version of "I'm Still Here"). The second disc in the 2 disc set is Disney's live action Treasure Island film. So it's not really a 2 disc release.
But I agree - the US should of have a 2 pack release too.

It's a Link to the Amazon.de cover. It must have been updated to the release cover (as stated earlier on this thread, the link was to a pre-release non-final cover originally).
