1 Hour in Wonderland/SOTS Idea (please read)
Hey guys,
Jake mentioned this to me yesterday and I thought about it and decided that it was not only a great idea but that it should be shared with the rest of you as well.
After he watched the One Hour in Wonderland special he thought that perhaps by leaving the Song of the South segment in there it could be like a test, to see what the public's reactions are to it. They most likely are waiting for negative phone calls. But the idea is: why not give them a positive one instead?
This is just what Jake did last night and they took his name and information and added him to the list.
So, if they recieve enough POSITIVE phone calls regarding that segment, it may speed up the process of getting that film out on DVD! Call them up and tell them that you liked what you saw and you would now like to see the rest of it. They will take your name down and add you to the list. Why not give it a try?

Not necessarily. The "Wonderland" Special was restored, not the individual segment of SOTS.Ludwig Von Drake wrote:I also thought that it looked much better than it had on the sing a long VHS. This could mean release is drawing near.
Having said that, there is another clip of it on one of the Disneyland, USA features.
And I think it is a great idea to keep phoning about this title. If Disney realises there is a demand for it, they may just do something. That of course goes for every title at any time

Actually, the SotS clip HAS been restored. The original "Wonderland" special movie clips were all in black and white. Disney used clips from their own masters of the film and replaced the black in white ones with the actual ones as Disney felt Walt would've done this if color tv were an option.Loomis wrote:The "Wonderland" Special was restored, not the individual segment of SOTS.
I think phoning Disney about their inclusion of the SotS clip is a great idea. It'll show them that the public really does want to own this on DVD, and I bet there are average joes out there who'll see the clip, like it, and would like to know what film that's from. The only thing I find strange is everyone keeps wanting SotS to be released as a Treasures DVD. I always assumes the treasures were for shorts and specials, not feature films, so I think a Vault Disney-ish title would be more fitting.
But in the original broadcast of the Wonderland special, the SOTS clip was in black and white. Disney substituted it with a color clip - which means they took the time to restore SOTS seperately.Loomis wrote:Not necessarily. The "Wonderland" Special was restored, not the individual segment of SOTS.

while both ideas are correct to me if you think about it the show was shot and broadcasted in B&W but when they aired parts of movies they were shot in color but broadcast in B&W. that's Loomis thinking.Jack wrote:But in the original broadcast of the Wonderland special, the SOTS clip was in black and white. both Ideas are correct so we will never know!

There is logic in me somewhere...MickeyMouseboy wrote:while both ideas are correct to me if you think about it the show was shot and broadcasted in B&W but when they aired parts of movies they were shot in color but broadcast in B&W. that's Loomis thinking.Jack wrote: But in the original broadcast of the Wonderland special, the SOTS clip was in black and white. Yes, that is what i was getting at - the restoration of the individual elements of the special not the whole thing. Or they may have "colourized" it? As MMB says, there is no real way of knowing.
However, it does make sense to believe that Disney has a restored version of SOTS laying around the house (behind the couch, I believe, so when guests come over they aren't offended by it

It's possible this was just for international TV sales. Remember SotS was on UK Network television this past Easter (which begs the question, why is it OK to renegotiate TV deals - the deal was made recently as previous UK TV showings were on another Network - but not release the DVD?)Joe Carioca wrote:I heard rumours that Scott McQueen's last project at Disney was "Song of the South".
So, let's wait and see... though I expect that we WON'T see it!
I still expect an international DVD release somewhere before the end of 2005.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
Come on Disney just release Song of the South already
After watching One Hour in Wonderland on the Alice disc, I was reminded in that little scene from Song of the South what a vibrant and joyful movie this is. But because the evils of political correctness seep through we are denied this great film.

Remaster Complete
I know Scott personally. He actually completed the remaster a few years ago - well before his departure from Disney. It remains in limbo for release but is being considered for a Treasures Release. The clip on One Hour in Wonderland is from Scott's remaster and looks better than any other previous release by leaps and bounds.Joe Carioca wrote:I heard rumours that Scott McQueen's last project at Disney was "Song of the South".

So, this remastering was done before 1995, right? I mean, 1995 was the year Disney released the special "Alice" LD, and the "One Hour In Wonderland" on the DVD is (at least it seems) a direct port from the LD. I mean, even the scene of "Snow White" uses the old digital restoration made in 1992/93.

I would do the same if they listened to people from other countries... When I send an e-mail to them, the maximum I get is the adress and telephone number of Buena Vista Brazil!Disney Guru wrote:![]()
