Also does anyone know if the rest of the silly symphonies(ss) are going to be released in a future disney treasures set? And are the treasures sets going to be recycled, in like a ten year cycle, like the platinums were, well now are but in a 7 year cycle.

Silly Symphonies
Does anyone know where I can get a SS dvd for a good price (meaning cheap)? I would really like to own this but can't shell out alot of cash at this time.

These Treasures are a one-time-only limited offer. It would be stupid to re-release them for Disney because the prices for the sets are becoming rediculously high. If people knew that they would be re-released, they would not buy them as quickly and Disney would not make as much money.

I guess $20- $30 plus shipping or possibly $40 total with shipping if that doesn't seem ridiculously low. I don't want to spend too much and not enjoy them. This is sort of a faith buy.
This is not neccessarily true. If disney were releasing these in 10 year cycles then people would still be purchasing them high because, they would not want to wait that long. Just look at Little Mermaid, Junglebook, Landy and Tramp, dalmations, they are all going for pretty high amounts, and it isn't even a 10 year wait for them.Dacp wrote:These Treasures are a one-time-only limited offer. well, 20 is way too low. If you search hard enough, MAYBE you'll be able to find one on ebay for about 35 plus shipping. There are ones with Buy It Now for 40 dollars, but shipping of 6 dollars, adding up to 46 dollars.I guess $20- $30 plus shipping or possibly $40 total with shipping if that doesn't seem ridiculously low. Another option is to call big chain bookstores around you (Banres and Nobles and Borders). They are known for having a lot of these sets for 35 dollars (that includes tax). So good luck, and I hope this helps!

According to another thread, they are coming out in Holland towards the end of the year.
I don't know what the exchange rate is like, but you might want to check that out as another option. Only 6 months away!
Also, it is likely they will be released here in Australia towards the end of thr year.
So if you are blessed with the wonders of multi-region, these are two other options at least.

WHOO- HOO! YES!!! I just got Silly Symphonies for $30 at Best Buy! It was the only tin treasures set there. Just sitting there all by it’s self. God I was so worried I’d have to pay $50 or more plus shipping and get it from ebay or something. I am so Happy now all I need is the complete Goofy to complete my set. (I’m only collecting the cartoons) I could have gotten it when it first came out but it really wasn’t high on my priority list, unfortunately it still isn’t, but now it will probably cost me more to get, I could have gotten it for like $25 with Mick bw. Can not wait for Donald and Mick c v2. Those will be snatched up with no hesitation first day!!!
Also got Buffy season 4, but PO’ed that it is full screen when the rest of the world gets it in wide!!! Fox really—ARGGGGGHHHHH! I didn’t even know they were made in wide screen until I signed an online petition a week ago for it to be released in it’s original aspect ratio. Oh well, I will try to enjoy any way. Unfortunately I have a wide screen TV so it makes it an even BIGGER pain to watch things in full screen that weren’t meant to be that way. God the American public with their “no black bars” attitude really—“The word I’m searching for, I can not say because there are Kindergarten toys present”. I remember working at Suncoast for the Holiday and people would walk out of the video store with out there rare hard to find, and in some cases out of print movie simply because it was only made in wide screen! What freaken idiots. Now children I can understand but not adults… What is the world coming to
I weep for those poor fools and for myself, because I must suffer. My STUPID Computer keeps freezing it has taken me 2 hours to post this message. It takes me that long to post most of my messages. You have no idea how frustrating it is. When I don’t first type them into word perfect and save, I lose every thing and have to retype everything!!! It takes all I got not to throw the stupid thing out the window!!!! This doesn’t ny any chance happen to anyone else does it? It has turned my happy moment into a not so happy one.

www.thedigitalbits.com had an article, actually a couple of articles about Buffy being Fullscreen. Joss Whedon says that the season was composed for a fullscreen format, and it was his decision to release it that way. I think that the last two will be released in widescreen.
If anyone is interested here is a complete list of Silly Symphony shorts. I'm too tired to do a list now, but if anyone is interested I may do a list like I did for Mickey Mouse.

The Chip N Dale section only lists Chip and Dale shorts (ie those featuring Chip and Dale on the opening title card). I presume that there was only 3 of these made. This is why for example "The Compete Goofy" doesn't include cartoons like "Clock Cleaners" or "Lonesome Ghosts" - they were Mickey Mouse cartoons (ie featured a Mickey Mouse opening title card).
However Chip and Dale appear in a lot of other shorts: click on the button at the bottom of this page
