Who's going to MNSSHP at WDW this year?

Post by Flanger-Hanger »

Who is going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World this year? I think I may be going on September 21st. Not sure what I'm going to be yet (but it will relate to a lesser known Disney film).
Anybody else?

I will be working most of them, but hopefully I will have a night off so I can actually go in and see the festivities.
I'm currently watching and reviewing every Disney film in chronological order. You can follow along at my blog, The Disney Films, and also follow me on Twitter.

My family is planning on going to the Magic Kingdom either on Halloween or just after Halloween. My daughter will be 4 and really is looking forward to Halloween at Disney.

Can someone explain the whole Not So Scarry Halloween Party to me? I see that on Halloween (Oct 31) MK is open till 7:00 and the MNSSHP goes fro 7:00 to midnight. If we are at the park during the day, do they somehow kick you out right at 7:00? Or can you stay into the night if you were already there during the day? I can't see how they can kick everyone out of the park at that time.

Thanks!!!

The park just closes at 6 IIRC, anyone who wants to get into the event arrives an hour later with different tickets.

I can't fathom the logistics of this. They kick everyone out starting at 6:00! How can they organize this and get it done so the park is empty by 7:00. If you have tickets for the night as well do you have to leave and then come back in?

No, I think you can request for a special bracelet which idenitifies you as an after-hours guest. A lot of the preperations before are just setting up stations and hanging some decorative stuff. It's not a lot to do really, but it makes all the difference in the world to the guest. It's an awesome event to be at, really.

Everyone attending the event gets a wristband. If you aren't attending the event, and haven't bought a ticket for it, then you don't get a wristband. Technically, people who aren't attending the event are supposed to leave. To get on attractions, you will need to show the attractions cast member your wristband. But, if you're just walking around, then no one will probably say anything if you have no wristband. Like, if you leave shortly after the party start time, no one will be mad that you were in the park for a little longer than you should've been. I'm not advocating staying at the party without buying a ticket and getting a wristband, though!

Are you sure? I recall pretty much everyone scattering at the designated time and by the time the park opened for the event there were only people who were supposed to be there (otherwise many others could mooch off the free candy, special parade, fireoworks etc).

You can enter the park at 4pm with a party ticket (3 hours before the party starts). The park now closes at 7pm for non party guests and main street is split in half (right, poeple entering the party, left, people exiting the park.) The ghost host (over PA) will tell guests to leave. when you enter the park you'll get a wristband and trick or treat bag.

If you buy tickets in adavnce you can get a discount on certain nights (a bigger discount if you are a Annual Passholder or DVC member). See prices and more info here:http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/mk/mnssh.htm

As a side not I'm not going anymore :( , but i hope everyone else enjoys there time there! :)

They're actually pretty good about handling this. There are signs posted everywhere saying that the park is closing at 7pm that day. All the cast members around 6:30 start telling guests to begin to funnel to the front and either get their wristbands or leave the park. After 7pm no one without a wristband is let into a line or restaurant. You can't trick or treat or do any rides or activities without your wristband (they're bright orange so kinda hard to miss).

If a CM sees you without one, you will be escorted out of the park. I guess it's possible to "hide out" in the park afterwards by avoiding every CM you see and not doing anything but walk around and see the parade and fireworks. I don't think they even let you buy stuff in the shops without a wristband because there is exclusive merchandise.

If you have a ticket only for the evening and can enter the park with it at 4pm can you ride the rides right away or do you have to sit in a que on Main Street till 7? If you can start going into the park and going on the rides starting at 4 we may skip buying the regular day ticket and just get the evening MNSSHP ticket. If the park stays open till midnight, that's actually not a bad deal for the $48 ticket price per person.

Can any of you confirm this?

Wow, is it really $48? Back when I was there it cost me $35, tops.

Once you enter the park at 4pm you are considered a regular guest and can do whatever you want. Rides, shows, food etc. They woudl have no way of knowing that you didn't have a day ticket to be there as well

To answer the other question, gate prices for the tikets are around $48, advance purchase are $41 and DVC and AP discount is $38. Not too bad considering what you get.

Discounts aren't avalable on all party dates.
