I tried the Hundred Acre Challange on my Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh DVD and it was REALLY lame. It seems it was aimed at only preschoolers which annoys me a bit.

One Tree Hill: The Complete First Season
Deleted Scenes:
-Episode 2: "The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most"
-Episode 5: "All That You Can't Leave Behind"

Thanks to Jane, I'm hooked to the show. Not crazy-hooked where I obsess over every little thing and have deep spiritual conversations with fans about whether or not so-and-so and such-and-such will be together. Just hooked because I need some soapy goodness and daytime isn't delivering for me anymore. Plus, I can watch it at my convenience instead of committing a specified time each week/day. I've only seen the first 8 episodes, but it's looking pretty good so far.

Doctor Who: The Complete First Series
The Adventures of Captain Jack
Trailers

Even though Kram and Jane don't care for the classic series (I once showed Kram the serial Earthshock and, understandably, he liked it up until the end), they've taken a liking to the Tenth Doctor. So I figured I'd show them how the Ninth became the Tenth and we watched Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways along with the Captain Jack bonus feature, and of course, the trailers. They were a bit upset when I told them I didn't have the second series on DVD yet (I should've gotten that in Florida instead of some movies I bought). On the plus side, the third series starts airing on SciFi July 6, next Friday! Yay!

I'm at the exact same episode. It is looking pretty good isn't it? After a somewhat rocky start in terms of writing and acting, this show is starting to show a lot of potential!

"The Secret Behind the Secrets" Featurette on The Secret of NIMH DVD. This is probably the most behind the scene stuff will ever get from a Don Bluth film on DVD ever.

The original movie trailers for Monty Python & the Holy Grail. It's weird and funny. Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDM75-oXGmQ

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country: Special Collector's Edition
Stories from Star Trek VI (57:03)
--It Started with a Story (9:44)
--Prejudice (5:00)
--Director Nicholas Meyer (5:55)
--Shakespeare & General Chang (5:51)
--Bringing it to Life (23:24)
--Farewell & Goodbye (7:02)
--End Credits (0:17)

A well-done documentary and it really goes into sufficient detail on the making of the movie. There was a nice mix of interviews with the director, producers, and some crew, but I was a bit disappointed at the lack of input from the supporting cast. The only actors interviewed were Shatner, Nimoy, and Plummer. And Todd Bryant (Klingon Translator), which I guess was just some extra interview material from his input for Star Trek V, where he played Klaa. Would've been more fun to hear from Kim Cattrall as well.

The "Star Trek" Universe: (26:46)
-Klingons: Conjuring the Legend (20:43)
-Penny's Toy Box (6:03)

I only watched these two featurettes of the five in the section, because they're the more interesting ones, IMO. "Penny's Toy Box" is probably my favorite on the entire disc.

"Doctor Who": Logopolis
A New Body at Last (50:20)

It's always fun to watch a "Doctor Who" documentary. :D

Horatio Hornblower: The Duchess and the Devil
Making-of Featurette (21:33)

A nice fluffy promotional piece but it's got a few worthy interviews in it, along with plenty of behind-the-scenes footage.

I watched/looked at all the bonus features on "The Jungle Book", but I didn't finish looking at the picture gallery, and I didn't yet listen to the deleted songs (although there are some on the soundtrack, which I have).

Watched a ton of trailers on YouTube.

And on YouTube, the original ending to Little Shop of Horrors (1986). I'm in complete shock. Yeah, I have as dark a view on civilization and people as anyone else who knows how evil people can be... but this still is incredibly disturbing. No matter how it's sugar-coated and dressed up before you see it. That ending went way too far. Suddenly, the main characters were considered not important anymore, and all the things you hoped would happen for them were violently thrown away. But wait- I thought the movie was supposed to be funny as well as slightly horrific. Ug. Never thought I'd say this, but thank God for 80's test audiences!

Re: Little Shop of Horrors

But that's the stage musical ending Laz (admittedly on a wider scale and more destruction). The musical ends with Seymore being eaten by Audrey II while fighting back.

And it is sort of uplifting:

Hold your hat and hang on to your soul
Something's coming to eat the world whole
If we fight it we've still got a chance
But whatever they offer you
Though they're slopping the trough for you
Please, whatever they offer you
Don't feed the plants

The whole of "Don't Feed the Plants" is about being strong and not giving in to temptation. It can be uplifting, if you take it to heart.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Oh- I'm fully aware of the musical's ending. And I couldn't care less (no offense).

A musical is still a play. A movie is not. I've always been very strong in my opinion that movies, books, tv shows, and plays are very separate things.

If you saw that ending, you know it's more than a little bit too disturbing and screws the entire film up. You can focus on the intention before you make the movie. But once the pieces start to come together, you have to realize that things change.

Effect and intention are different. You just cannot have an ending that horrifying and disturbing in a movie that's mostly a comedy. It's not a funny ending.

Over the week amidst final papers and studying for finals...

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End: Two-Disc Limited Edition + Best Buy Exclusive Bonus Disc

A Very Long Engagement: Two-Disc Special Edition
A Year at the Front: Behind the Scenes of A Very Long Engagment - This 22-chapter documentary runs 75 minutes and is essentially a series of fly-on-the-wall footage of how they made the film. Since it's all in French, I had to read the subtitles and watch the footage at the same time. It's all really great material, and is an honest look at the production. There's no sit-down interviews at all, it's nothing but a camera capturing the cast and crew at work, with some occasional "here's what we're doing here" explanations. One of the best "documentaries" I've seen and all movies should have documentaries like this.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: Three-Disc Deluxe Edition (Target Exclusive)
Trailing Tonks (19:24) - an interesting feature that has Nat Tena going around with a camera man as they tour the studios where OOTP was filmed. Nat is a rather agreeable host, and it's a pity that we see more of her here than we do in the actual movie. It's got a couple more replays in it but otherwise would be rather disposable.

Building the Magic: The Sets of Harry Potter (20:16) - a very worthwhile featurette as the set designers and such discuss the new sets they made for the film. There's also some throwaway comments by some of the actors offering praising bits like, "the sets were amazing, I would love to live in them" and other such bits. This should have been on the regular two-disc instead of as a store-exclusive.

Additional Scenes (10:00) - yeah...disposable stuff for the most part, though I'd rather they kept the "Harry Enters Dumbledore's Office" and "Harry & Ron Packing" scenes. And where's the other 35 minutes? Poo.

The Hidden Secrets of Harry Potter (43:52) - about fifteen minutes in I stopped watching. It's really nothing more than a recap of the books with clips from the films. Can't believe I thought it'd be worth my time.

Harry Potter: The Magic of Editing (5:21) - a patronizing explanation by the director and editor as they talk down to viewers and show how they edit a scene. The "edit your own scene" option afterwards is more like a kiddie game than an editing featurette. Kingdom of Heaven had a great audio mixing feature (The "Sound Design Suite") and Moulin Rouge had wonderful Multi-Angle sequences for the dance numbers. Those were better editing bonuses than this piece of kiddie tripe.

The lack of the trailer for OOTP made me a very dissatisfied customer.
