Maroon 5: It Won't Be Soon Before Long - $11.98

FANTASTIC album! I especially love LITTLE OF YOUR TIME. Maroon 5 is just one of those bands that will always be good, no matter how big they get.

Four fantastic CDs, CJ. I own the middle two and hope to get the others soon (although I have TLK on cassette tape and have all the major songs from both on various compilations).

Prince Ali, I agree, the Maroon 5 CD is amazing. I don't think it tops Songs About Jane, but it's still great. My favorite track is "Wake Up Call".

Whoo!
So you finally bought it, huh? Awesome! Did you enjoy Telegraph?

By the way, I plan on purchasing Amy Grant: Greatest Hits 1986-2004 when I go exchange my DVDs this week. :) Oh, and I almost bought Rock of Ages...Hymns of Faith at Target the other day. I decided to hold off on it and get her greatest hits collection first.

Yep! Really enjoying it so far... very impressed with his voice and musicality. Not what I would have expected from a Nickelodeon star, for sure. Looking forward to getting to know the songs more.

And awesome! I think going for Amy's Greatest Hits first is the better option for you, though Rock of Ages does, well, rock. Was it the Target "Three Wishes" Special Edition?

It releases nationwide on July 17th. Luckily, you can order it here and it will ship as soon as you place your order. I'm expecting mine to arrive sometime within the week.

:)

Oh, and Aaron...
Yes, Rock of Ages...Hymns of Faith was the Three Wishes version. That's one of the reasons I almost bought it. I'm afraid Target will run out of copies if I don't purchase it fairly soon.

Bought a couple of CDs over the weekend, as it seems 'tis the season to be buying.

Ryan Adams - Easy Tiger

Despite Adams releasing 3 albums in 2005, one of which is a double, this is the first significant release since then (discounting the 12 online albums that seemed to be released largely for novelty value under various pseudonyms). To say a 'return to form' would be implying that he was releasing bad records, but that was certainly not the case with the first two records of 2005 (the brilliant double Cold Roses) and the wonderful follow-up Jacksonville City Nights). However, his almost 'adult-contemporary' 29 just failed to excite me, and the opening single off this record, "Two", although catchy seemed like it would be following the same path. Thankfully this is probably Adam's strongest record for a while, and has much more in common with his solo debut Heartbreaker and follow-up mega-success Gold than anything released since. A strong release, and highly recommended to fans of alt.country and adult alternative alike.

Traveling Wilburys - 2 CD/1 DVD

Years! Years we have been waiting for this, and when it finally comes out - it is more magnificent than ever! The long out-of-print CDs have fetched high prices on eBay (although I managed to nab a second hand vinyl on the cheap a few years ago), but this re-release is sure to bring those prices down a bit. Remastered versions of Volume 1 and Volume 3 (which is, in fact, their second album), along with a new DVD featuring all their music videos and a new documentary. Outstanding! Can you even imagine what it would take to get the equivalent of Dylan, Harrison, Lynne, Petty and Orbison together now? It boggles the mind.

Paul McCartney - Memory Almost Full [Deluxe Limited Edition]

I've been listening to a hell of a lot of old Beatles records lately, prompted largely by a documentary I watched on the 'lost Beatle", Stuart Sutcliffe. This - along with the above re-release of the Traveling Wilbury's - prompted me to start exploring the solo careers of the Beatles, as with the exception of John Lennon, I had only touched briefly on things such as George Harrison's All Things Must Pass or Wings compilations. The opening single on this new record is as catchy as anything Paul has done, and while the rest of the album may tend towards Paul's tweeness (and he is definitely the 'twee one' of the Beatles), it is a fun record. The music video from Michel Gondry was also a major commercial for the me. This edition comes with deluxe packaging, and a bonus disc with three extra tracks and a kind of "audio commentary" on the album.

Other records I have bought recently include:

Lucinda Williams - West
Son Volt - The Search
Joy Division - Still

and my girlfriend has picked up:

White Stripes - Icky Thump
Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris
Write Your Own Adventures Down (Go Betweens Tribute Album)

Great choice! This is an incredible album, but I still haven't had the chance to pick it up. Paul McCartney OWNS. Is the deluxe edition available in the US, by any chance?

Yes, I first heard about it through Amazon, and tracked it down here. It's a nice little package, although it's DVD-sized container is not CD-shelf friendly :)

Awesome, thanks! I don't really mind the size; I like to have all of my Beatles and Beatle-related albums out on display. :p

Thanks again!

Actually bought this on Wednesday, but -

It is definitely an awesome album, but it's too soon yet to tell if it's my favorite from them. I recommend that everyone should at least check out Icky Thump, I'm Slowly Turning Into You and Effect & Cause. The whole album just rocks.

I have My December by Kelly Clarkson on pre-order. It's expected to ship tomorrow and arrive Friday at the earliest, give or take a day or two. I get stuff fairly quickly from Amazon, since the nearest warehouse is in-state.
