Mary Poppins DVD Edition

Post by aurey »

I know the types of Editions don't really matter but I was just wondering.

It says that Mary Poppins is going to Special Edition on the DVD trailer that came on my Alice DVD (and around the site)... but then it says it's a Masterpiece Edition on the flyer that ALSO came in my Alice DVD.

Which one is it?

And. Are there ANY differences in ANY of the DVD editions?

no they're both the same. The DVD it's part of the Masterpiece edition. but it's a special edition because Disney thinks people that already have the Gold collection wont buy this new 2 disc unless they put this on it.

I didn't know Mary Poppins was part of the Gold Collection DVDs! Sheesh, where have I been living, under a rock? I can wait until December to get the masterpiece edition though, no big deal. Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go doooooooooown the medicine go down. Great, now that song is stuck in my head.

I too am looking forward to the 2 disc version of Mary Poppins. However they package it. I was a little disappointed to see it put off a few months or whatever, but will definitely make the purchase! I just hate waiting!

I love Mary Poppins! I can't wait for the DVD to come out!

Anyone know what extras will be on the 2-disc edition?

I heard that the Mary Poppins 2-disc DVD will be out sometime in December. I hate waiting! It's driving me nuts.

I can't wait for the new Mary Poppins Special Edition release either! I don't know how I can hold out all the way until December.

Hopefully they will have a commentary track by Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. One thing we do know for sure is that we will be getting a newly restored version seen for the first time in this coming Special Edition. Thank goodness, too. It needed it. The last restoration version that is on the current DVD is very poor.

Lowry Digital, who restored Snow White for DVD, is supposed to have worked their magic on Mary Poppins.

quasi, the 2-disc editions of Pocahontas and Lilo & Stitch won't be out until sometime in 2005. Disney decided to delay the releases until Lilo & Stitch 2 is out in theaters. What that has do with Pocahontas, I have no clue :? I mean they could have just released Pocahontas now and Lilo & Stitch late but that's not for me to decide. We just have to wait.

We know how unpredictable Disney is. I won't be surprised if they decide to release at least "Pocahontas" by the end of the year.

What I believe is a lack of respect from Disney is the fact that those Masterpiece editions were advertised later last year and there's still a flier in the Alice new release w/ these titles also.
What is BVHV game?
I am confused... Oh well, at least we'll all have Brother Bear soon... hehe...

Don't worry, we'll have Brother Bear soon. In April or March I believe. I keep seeing fliers that say "Pre-Order Brother Bear Now!" so I think we'll have a DVD soon.

This is a color pencil portrait I drew of my favorite nanny. I thought it would be nice to share it with you all here on this thread. This year marks her 40th Anniversary from when she landed at Number 17 in the great Disney classic.

That's a great picture, Chris! Mary Poppins is the epitome of perfection (then again, if you're practically perfect in every way, you should be!)

What's everyone's favorite scene in Mary Poppins?

Mine would have to be when Ms. Poppins is in her room, and taking out the various objects from her bag. When I was little, I was so surprised at how they did it, and thought it was real! I used to think that one day I'd buy a carpet bag just so I could put tons of stuff in it!

I'd say that's a Photoshop filtered picture...

Cool Artwork. You have a lot of talent. It is the spitting image of Julie Andrews.

Thanks everyone. Glad you liked the portrait. No Photoshop involved in it's creation at all. It was hand done in Prismacolor pencils.

Here is more of my artwork of Mary Poppins. These are painted on wood. I used to put these out for Holiday decorations outside my parent's house. I enjoyed doing this so much. Here she is along with her carousel horse:
