Each year, I give a Special Golden Mickey award to recognize some general or specific contribution made by a member over the course of the year or all of UD's history that goes otherwise covered in the normal categories. This year, I'll be giving two!

The first goes to someone who has been with UD since the very beginning (or at least the beginning of its current incarnation, and I believe a good while before that) and, perhaps remarkably, has remained with us ever since. In fact, he occupies the 8th registered spot on the Member List, having joined up on the second day of this forum's existence. Over the last nearly five years, he has written reviews, made many a post, and dazzled us all with an award-winning avatar that stays among everyone's favorites. He dedicates himself to the celebration and defense of some of Disney's less popular titles. A true blue Disney fan through and through, he never hesitates to join in on the lauding of a classic and is always waiting with a bit of analysis or knowledge in the wings. His contributions to the website and the forum are always substantive and utterly enlightening. He is a fun and friendly presence, always welcome when he's here and always missed when he's not. Ladies and gentlemen, in recognition of Outstanding Long-Term Contribution and Dedication to UltimateDisney.com, it is my honor to present this year's first Special Golden Mickey award to...

Congratulations, Disneykid! UD truly wouldn't be the same without you! May we never be without your input!

Still to come, ladies and gents, another Special Golden Mickey, DVD Review award, and of course, Member of the Year!

Congrats, Disneykid.

A well-deserved special award.

I'd also like to say that this is one of the longest awards ceremonies I've attended.

That said, I've not attended any other ceremonies.

Wow, I seriously wasn't expecting this award. I figured it'd target something specific that could only be applied to one person; there are several other members who deserve the award for the same reasons I got it for. Still, who can deny a Golden Mickey, and a special one, at that? ;) Thanks so much to Aaron for this honor, and to anyone else who may have had a say in the matter. Figures I'd win an award mainly for overstaying my welcome. Wait...does this mean I'm going to the vault, now? Ah, well. Thanks again! :D

Well, yes, this was the polite way of saying that...

And now it's time for our 2nd Special Golden Mickey award! This one goes to a member who's been at Ultimate Disney for more than three and a half years. In her time here, she's won favor through her kind and supportive posts. She's always willing to lend a hand where it's needed and step up as a volunteer. She resurrected the Happy Birthday Thread and took it to a whole new level, making sure it's kept up to date and that everyone gets their custome birthday cake on their special day. She recently came on board as the forum's newest moderator, where she works behind the scenes to help keep this well-oiled machine running. For Maintenance of the Happy Birthday Thread and Exemplary Forum Moderation, I'm pleased to present the Special Golden Mickey award to...

No, his name isn't Guy Ritchie, but he is MadonnasManOne and he's got the award for Best DVD Review of the Year. Let's bring him out to present it now!

MadonnasManOne: We crave them. We live for them. Without them, it seems life is meaningless. In fact, they are one of the most important features of UltimateDisney.com! If we don’t get them, we become upset, and feel that we have been cheated. The people who provide them work hard to give us their opinion. Admit it; we all wait with baited breath for the next one. What are they? DVD Reviews, of course! We always look forward to the opinions of others, to provide us with information about a DVD we are anxiously awaiting. UltimateDisney.com has some of the best reviewers in the known galaxy. They work tirelessly, slaving from morning to midnight, all to provide us with our precious DVD Reviews. For that, we thank them! So, it is my honor to present the award for Site DVD Review of the Year! The very worthy nominees are:

Dreamgirls: 2-Disc Showstopper Edition by Aaron Wallace
The Little Mermaid: Platinum Edition by Luke
Peter Pan: Platinum Edition by Aaron Wallace
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest by Luke
Walt Disney's Legacy Collection: True-Life Adventures, Volume 1 by Albert Gutierrez
Walt Disney's Legacy Collection: True-Life Adventures, Volume 3 by Luke

Congratulations to our winner. We look forward to many more great DVD Reviews in the coming year! Who is it? The Golden Mickey goes to...

This is Luke's 21st* Golden Mickey and his fifth consecutive award for Site DVD Review of the Year. He has a total of 14 nominations this year.

Congratulations, Luke! A distinguished award for a distinguished review! Your analysis of the film was as much a pleasure to read and digest as the movie is to watch! You gave this movie and its DVD a far fairer review than many outlets chose to, so I'm happy to see you awarded for it!

Now everyone go and read all of this year's nominated reviews! (And all the others on the site while you're at it ;)).

*If you're wondering why it jumped from 19th to 21st, it's due to miscounting on my part. The Thread of the Year award was actually his 20th, not his 19th.

There's just ONE award left, folks! The Ultimate Disney Forum Member of the Year!

The winner is...

...going to be announced after the break!

-Wallace out.

Runs into the award show extremely late and out of breath. Wow, I wasn't expecting to walk away with a Golden Mickey. I'm as shocked about getting a Golden Mickey as Julian is about finding out that I'm a girl.:) I thank Aaron for honoring the Happy Birthday Thread, and I thank all those who keep that thread alive.

A hearty congratulations to all the winner's and nominees thus far.

It scared me half to death since I'm supposed to be the presenter for Member of the Year!

And one of these days, I'll actually contribute a long post to this thread and congratulate the winners personally as well as write a proper acceptance speech (plus one declining of an award). In the meantime, let's let the audience enjoy some disturbingly fun dancing by Emo Peter Parker:
