Mulan 2 - First Blood II will probably be close to the mark. What else can you do? She saved the country, and got the man. What now? It's huntin' season!

As for 2099's last post, I totally agree. There is a wealth of material out there that Disney has either borrowed from, and there is the expanded universe of the films in comics, books and tv series.

I don't and can't object to sequels in and of themselves. Sure, there are some that just don't interest me. But Disney didn't invent the sequel, and some of them are quite fun.

All we are saying, is give Scamp a chance!

"Of course in the end Wendy let them fly away together. Our last glimpse of her shows her at the window, watching them receding into the sky until they were as small as stars."

So again Disney were only talking ideas from the original source (although they added to them considerably - but that's no problem they altered the original Peter Pan too).

Other legitimate sequels: Well Alice in Wonderland is a combination of both Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through The Looking Glass, but doesn't include all of the events and characters written.

As well as The Wind in the Willows (which in itself probably provides more material than was used in the Mr. Toad section of Ichabod and Mr. Toad) There has been a number of literary sequels written by William Horwood beginning with "The Willows In Winter"

The Sword In The Stone has upteen possible sequels, being based as it is not only on the first of a series of children's books, but also ultimately being based on The Mort de Authur, which in turn is based on English legends.

Loomis has already written about The Black Cauldron.

There's probably an argument for Robin Hood as well, as the Disney version left out many of the events and characters of the English folk tale. However given the end of the film ties in roughly with the end of the folk tale, it would probably have to be a Robin Hood 1 1/2 midquel!

When Disney talks existing stories and adapts them for their films, you must be aware that in some cases sequels (or at least events and characters) already exist!

The Sleeping Beauty thing, was also kinda touched on in the story behind the story on the US Beauty and the Beast DVD. Although, it did not sound like they were preping it up for a sequel. I look forward to the segment from the Sleeping Beauty DVD.

Also another "legitimate" sequel is The Jungle Book 2, as this sequel was written by the original author. Just as Jungle Book has very little resemblance to it's book, I'm sure disney's sequel shows very little resemblance to the book written, but there was a "Jungle Book 2" written, continuing Mowgli's story.

If you click on the link you'll see that the continuation of the story is all but impossible for Disney to film - unless they make major revisions. I don't think Disney would dare to make a Sleeping Beauty 2, because it would be hard to include Sleeping Beauty in the title - the continuation of the story has no reference to sleeping, and I don't really think anyone could come up with a new plot that involves sleeping!

The segment on the DVD is just text pages, similar to the fairytale pages on the Snow White disc, but still quite interesting to read.
