Pixar's "Up"

Post by PatrickvD »

not sure what this is yet, but I know there've been non stop rumors going on about the 2009 gap in Pixar's release slate.

According to Boxofficemojo.com, that gap has been filled by a movie called Up.

I'm assuming this is the next project from Monsters, Inc. director Pete Docter.

2010.

nobody got that memo, Pixar has confirmed at the Shareholder meeting it was pushed to 2010... but no website ever changed that so everyone kept asuming it's coming in 2009.

so once and for all, TS3 is coming in 2010.

Up is for 2009

Awesome, thank you. Seems much more logical since 09 is less than 2 years away. I wonder what UP will be about? It certainly has me curious.

hmm, odd title. its kinda wierd, this is hte first time we have known about 4 future Pixar movies this much in advance. we now know of ratatouille, wall e, up, and toy story 3. that's insane if you ask me.

we still probably wont hear/see anything about the characters or plot in up untill at least wall e is about to come out.

It sounds like "Up" could be about space, flying or birds.
Hopefully "Up" will be another great Pixar film.

Talking airplanes would be cool! Hey, it worked for Cars.

I thought that Cars 2 was coming in 2009? I heard today that Paul Newman is retiring from live action films because he can't remember his lines anymore. He was one pf the sources for Cars 2. Mattel also confirmed it with their Cars die cast plans of doing 200 cars. Could there be 2 Pixar movies coming in 2009 or could UP have been misinterpreted as a Cars sequel if it is indeed about talking airplanes? Maybe it takes place in the same world but with planes?

Pete Doctor is directing Up, and Ronnie Del Carmen is working in story and the lead character is an adult male!

Does it bother anybody else that after Toy Story 3, Pixar will have made 11 films and not one of them has a female as the main character (yes, some of them have prominent female characters--Dorie, Jessie, etc--but they aren
t THE main character)?

And that synopsis of "Up" sounds REALLY weird and unlike Pixar.

"Pete Docter and co-director Bob Peterson are preparing this "coming-of-old-age story" about a seventysomething guy who lives in a house that "looks like your grand-parents' house smelled." He befriends a clueless young Wilderness Ranger and gets into lots of alter kocker altercations. Says Pixar: "Our hero travels the globe, fights beasts and villains and eats dinner at 3:30 in the afternoon."
That's the blurb TIME provided. adamelia adds "They say it is about an old man in his seventies who meets a clueless, young jungle scout. These two have some adventures globally in exotic lands...something similar to that."

uh.....what???

Until you mentioned it, I hadn't noticed that Pixar hasn't had a female lead character yet--and I'm female. It doesn't bother me though---at least not yet.

The "Up" description sounds intriguing. What little I know now of that movie sounds more interesting than what little I know of the "Wall e" movie.
