Bug's Life rerelease

Post by mlvc6969 »

I was in Best Buy, Circuit City and Walmart yesterday and every store had tons of copies of A Bug's Life Collector's Edition all with slipcovers, Disney must of rereleased them, I am really mad as I just paid over $30 on Ebay to get a new sealed copy with a slipcover and they are all on sale for $15.99 everywhere now. Is Disney planning on doing this with other titles?

Disney has priced dropped the Pixar dvds. Currently all of them, except Cars are $12.99 today and tomorrow at Best Buy, get them while you can. :) I'm taking a trip this afternoon, I think.

Well that is pretty cool for those of you who do not yet have A Bugs Life and are slipcover fanatics. I had to buy mine online to get it with a slipcover, but it didn't cost me too much money, so I didn't mind.

i noticed this too yesterday and i'm guessing(please correct me if i'm wrong) that certain stores only have slipcovers for certain pixar movies due to the Ratatoullie movie tickets.

for instance, at bestbuy i saw a lot of a bug's life with slipcovers all the other pixar ones wihtout them. Then at walmart, i saw a lot of toy story1 and 2 with slipcovers, but none on the bug's life or the others as well.

is this true for other stores or did i just see something weird?

i had to go back to walmart today so i swung by to check it out...the bugs life movies with slipcovers were kind of hidden behind the ones without but didnt have the coupons for the rat movie which i cant spell lol....so its either free ticket or slipcover, but i think i will just buy another bugs life take the cover and sell the movie on ebay when it becomes a little harder to find.

Weird, I just saw it at Circuit City today with a slipcover! They had 3 copies and I thought about buying one. I thought it had just been sitting around, they have a lot of OOP DVDs there.... :P

Well, I didn't mean they have any OOP Disney DVDs. At least none that I noticed. I picked up the DVD for "Happily Ever After" which is OOP.... but a "special edition" is coming next month... 8)

Circuit City has "Cars" for 12.99 Sunday and Monday only. They also have Pater Pan for the same price.

i've got a question: does the old release of a bug's life with the new release have anything different in terms of content besides the shiny slipcover and artwork?

How do you think those of us who bought the first Bug's Life collector's set release feel? It was the very first DVD I bought back in 1999 or 2000 and cost me nearly 50.00. My player was a 150.00 GE and it still runs beautifully. Just shows how low the prices have come though.

The 2003 re-release (aka the current release on shelves, with slipcover or not  ) has some Finding Nemo fishy facts thing added to it, but I don't think anything was dropped from the old release (aside from probably a more complex insert)

I have both versions and the content is the same from the menus down except for the Nemo fish facts. I still prefer the original for some reason, maybe it was because it was my first.

I only bought a Dvd to get the DVD release of Rudolph and Frosty with exclusive intros by Arthur Rankin that came out that fall. I had some refunded college money so I bought my player with that and got A Bug's Life to try it out. I remember months later I discovered the audio commentary. I was so virgin to DVD I had no idea about sound channels or any of that stuff. I remember starting it at like 2 AM and thinking it would only be a few minutes and amazed it ran the whole length. I judge all Pizar releases to this one and wish that the others included score only tracks like A Bugs Life does.
