i found that ending scene to be extremely dissappointing. DON'T CONTINUE READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE SPOILERS!

okay. but seriously. their son looked more like a girl. orlando looked like a man-ish girl. and the son thing was too cliche. i'm glad they won't be in the possible fourth. and it should've been given the ending with an animal like in the last two. monkey. dog. will/liz/son? what's that about? i wish the FINAL scene included jack. AT LEAST most people won't stay 'til the very end, so they won't have to know that happened. haha.

SPOILERS END!
i'm still seeing it. still very excited to see it. but at least now i know it's not worth staying 'til the very end of the credits.

* SPOILERS * (In white)

I LOVED the ending! So beautifully romantic. But, as it is Elizabeth and Will, I am sure they will find a way to break the curse and be together. Or, if they don't, when he comes back to her at the end of the film, Elizabeth gets prenant again, and has a girl! That would be great! After all, she is still only 28 / 29 ish '10 years later'. Plenty of time for more children. I'm sure she and her son have adventures of their own, and Jack comes to visit from time to time.

People have been talking about this being a punishment for Elizabeth as she lusted after Jack, but I don't agree at all.

:o

I just found this out from Ted and Terry's blog (the writers of the movie):

The ending scene which I posted shows that Elizabeth and Will have broken the curse, and he has returned to her for good. But, this is not made clear in the movie, as the director decided to cut out a scene explaining this! So there you go, Elizabeth is not alone anymore; their love has broken the curse. I love this ending even more now!

I wonder why they cut the scene?

Just got home from an 8 o'clock showing (we went to a bar afterwards for a few drinks). Overall I'd say it was better than DMC, but weaker than CotBP. 7.5/10.

And for the record, I, unlike most of the critics, didn't find it as confusing or hard to follow as they claim it is.

argh why dont people like DMC and highly praise COTBP? i like DMC's lush visuals most among all three and for its comic relief and fun. i like COBTP for the witty script and i like AWE for its grandeur and events.
whatever it is, i think AWE had the weakest musical score.

spoiler:

they didnt show the shark man turn into human...i'd love to see how he actually looks like

Got back an hour or so ago, and I really liked the movie!!! Much better than Spider-Man 3 and better than Shrek the Third!

SPOILERS (obviously)

I must say that I'm totally thrilled they brought back Barbossa, he totally rocks!

And I guess I developed a sort of fondness for Davey Jones, 'cause I kept wanting to see more of him. He's awesome too.

THE RETURN OF THE TWO GUYS FROM THE FIRST ONE! (I never knew their names, I think one of them was Murtogg... no idea about the other though lol)

One thing that kind of bugged me; lack of the Kracken both visually and musically. Was that the Kracken's dead body they were at at that one point in the movie? I was very sad to not hear the Kracken's theme music (track 2 of the Dead Man's Chest soundtrack), it's definitely one of my favorite movie music tracks and it was missing from this movie.

Oh yeah and when Tia Dalma/Calypso turned really big... all I could think about was Dude, Where's My Car?

Overall it was a great movie, and I'm definitely going to see it maybe two or three more times.

Oh yeah, and I don't know if it was intentional, but Jack the monkey and Mr. Cotton's parrot so totally = Abu and Iago
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

I loved that new piece!!

I love the visuals but you can't just look at a movie the whole way through. I found the jokes to be subpar and frankly, kind of childish compared to CotBP's. And the way the story was told in DMC was way too confusing to comprehend and made it seem so much more tangled than it really was. All this improved in AWE.

So AWE (according to the review on this site) is a bloated, incoherent mess? My, I didn't see that coming.

its not really a mess, u just gotta pay extra attention. as one site reviewer commented, everybody just talk and talk but backstabbed each other in the end. i guess thats a true pirate trait, u understand nothing of their jabbering but still believed in them. :D

yea, DMC did seem more childish with the slapstick joke, AWE almost crossed the line but it knows its limits.

as for me, im going to see it again now, hopefully the third time i will understand more. too bad im going with an unenthusiastic crowd.

you're a real psychic. :P

Also, it's the most fun I've had at the movies this year, eventhough you can often not tell what the heck is going on. In the end, it all adds up though.

It. Was. Amazing.

I can't believe that the rest of you who have seen it aren't praising it like it's a masterpiece. I am so glad I didn't read any of the spoilers and was totally surprised. The ending really threw me - I wasn't expecting it. I hope there's a 4th movie because it's not how I wanted it to end up.

It had much more genuine humor than the 2nd movie. I was laughing every few minutes. The special effects were great, of course, but some of the jokes throughout this movie were ingenious. I liked it "much more better" than Dead Man's Chest, but still I love all three of them.

I am seeing it again tonight at 5:00. Edited to say: I had no problems understanding the plot. It was complicated, but if you pay attention you'll be fine.

Edited again to say....who the heck wrote the review on the front page? Come on! Can you honestly say it's not the most entertaining thing you've watched in years? It was fun, funny, and a great time - a GREAT movie. I think the review is being over-critical - this movie is not setting out to win an OSCAR, it's meant to entertain and satisfy the fans of the characters, which it did that and more. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but that review is overly negative and in fact in being so public may convince some readers not to go see the movie for themselves. I disagree with it on almost every aspect, as I can honestly say I enjoyed this movie more than perhaps any I've ever seen in theaters. I'm disappointed that it is attached to the front page of a major website that is supposed to inform and celebrate all things Disney, especially since the content isn't really deserved.

Definitely! Jack's one line really cracked me up: "We fight... So we can run away!" rotfl And his and Barbosa's bickering is a riot. "I'm captain! No, I'm captain!"

Also - I feel that they drew a lot more of the feel of the actual ride into this movie. Slight spoiler...

There was a scene where it goes pitch dark and you only hear audio, during which you would swear you were on the ride.

There was another scene with lightning bugs that reminded me of the Blue Bayou restaurant in Disneyland.

about the final scene and the....well after credits scene I think that

SPOILER!!

Considering that Tia Dalma tolds Davy had corrupted his task that's why he hadn't broke the curse, but when Will didn't prevent people from death so he coul have more crew, Will just made his labor corretclky for the ten years and now he was free...could be?

I don't really see what people have problem-wise with this movie. It's a movie. About pirates. Based on a ride. What exactly are you searching for, meaning-wise? It's a goofy, thoughtless action romp, with some great moments and an always great performance by Depp (and Bill Nighy, of course), which sometimes is all you really need. I read a review somewhere that said it was like an Errol Flynn movie directed by Steven Spielberg, which I think is pretty accurate. I mean, I knew that as long as there wasn't an awkward "Saturday Night Fever" reference shoved in, I would enjoy the movie for what it was, a really good goofy Pirate movie.

Yes, $17 million is good for a film that start at 8 p.m. , but I hate the fact that none of that money will count towards the weekend boxoffice. Normally a Thursday late-night screening makes a few million, but not enough to do harm to the weekend total. But a chuck like $17 million might do some harm, but not much seeing that tons of people will be seeing Pirates more than once.

But since when does Luke know anything?

I also seem to recall him also trashing Return to Never Land, if you know what I mean. :P

Anyway, did not get to see it at 8:00 or Midnight unfortunately, but I saw it first thing in the morning today, which was the next best thing I suppose. I even wore my Pirates t-shirt(and my Mickey Mouse jacket, but I almost always wear that). :D

Well, after that tragically appalling and disappointing Spider-Man 3, and.... well, that green monster movie, I'm glad to say Captain Jack Sparrow has everything it took to save the movie year of 2007. Everything was terrific and perfect as possible. The special effects, cinematography, plot(s ), acting, dialogue, subtle theme park references... and I even got to see it in a digital presentation which made it the more amazing.

I loved they kept referencing the first two movies, the theme park attraction, and still was it's own movie. So it was like watch 3 movies in one! Isn't that what we live for Netty? :P But still managed to not even be close to a quarter of the length of that awful Lord of the Rings movie.

Don't want to discuss the actual movie at this point, just see it for yourself! You won't be disappointed. 10/10

As for how I rank the trilogy, probably like this...
1. At World's End
2. Curse of the Black Pearl
3. Dead Man's Chest
