Time for this thread to get a bump. I recently attended the Back to Basics tour, so I've added Christina Aguilera (awesome), The Pussycat Dolls (lame), and Danity Kane (even lamer) to my list.

My concert history is really embarrassing. I've really only been to a few, big crowds bother me so I usually avoid them.

I've seen:

Paula Abdul (1991 - I believe, or maybe 1992)
Madonna (1995 and 2003)
Janet Jackson (1994 and 1995)
Matchbox 20 (2001)
Cher (2004 and 2005)

I'm a bit fuzzy about these, so I may be off with the years by a few.

Chris Daughtry
West Bank Stage (Outdoors)
Attendance: excess of 55,000
Opening Act: Rain (local group)

This was a great show, and Chris brought the mayor of Greensburg, Kansas uo to the stage and gave him a personal check for $50,000 for the Tornado relief fund.

Saturday, May 12, 2007

The Guess Who
Kennedy Plaza Stage (Outdoors)
Attendance: over 10,000
Opening Act: John Kay & Steppenwolf

Really good show - short, as each band only was on stage for 50 minutes. But each band did their biggest hits. That's what the crowd wanted.

Sunday, May 13, 2007

Little River Band
Kennedy Plaza Stage (Outdoors)
Attendance: over 10,000
Opening Act: Code Blue (local band)

Very good show. They played for almost 90 minutes, and did all their hits and then some.

Some upcoming shows I am going to attend include:

Martina McBride - Sunday, May 27, 2007 - Kansas Coliseum
Weird Al Yankovic - June 10, 2007 - Verizon Ampitheater, Kansas City
Snow Patrol, The Fray - July, 2007 - Verizon Ampitheater, Kansas City

It seems strange that I haven't posted in this thread since mid-2004! I have seen quite a few since then, although not so much this year.

Highlights have included:

2005
The Beastie Boys
The Shins
Fiery Furnaces
You Am I
Ryan Adams & the Cardinals
Billy Corgan
Interpol
Nine Inch Nails
Tegan & Sara
Maximo Park
Tim Rogers & The Temperance Union

2006

You Am I

2007
Roger Waters (largely because I got complimentary tickets worth AU$400!)

We were meant to see Nine Inch Nails again a few weeks back, but Trent Reznor got sick or something, and the tour has been rescheduled for September... :(

I attended my 7th Amy Grant concert on Saturday night and it was GREAT. Amy was performing with a symphony-orchestra as well as her full band. A great setlist and her voice was amazingly strong that night. The house was double-sold-out due to a booking error so there was a great energy in the concert hall and everyone seemed to truly enjoy the concert. Amy's youngest daughter, Corrina, joined her on stage to add percussion to a few of the songs.

Here's the setlist:
  • Harry's Wondrous World from Harry Potter (symphony only)
New Hampshire Hornpipe (symphony and band only)
    Stay for Awhile
    Takes a Little Time
    Saved by Love
    Angels
Someone to Watch Over Me (symphony only)
    House of Love
    Lucky One
    Big Yellow Taxi
What the Angels See (new song that hasn't been recorded yet)
    Every Road/Thy Word (medley)
Jesus Loves Me/They'll Know We Are Christians/Helping Hand (medley)
    --Intermission--
Oh How the Years Go By
    Baby Baby
    The Power
    If These Walls Could Speak
Variations on a Shaker Melody (symphony only)
    Innocence Lost
    El Shaddai
    Highland Cathedral (symphony plus bagpipes)
    Joyful, Joyful
    --Encore--
    I Will Remember You
-Aaron

P.S. I've really got to update my first post in this thread.

I thought that I had posted here before...!

Hanson (5 times)/Maria Mena/0ther opening acts of theirs

Simon & Garfunkel

Linkin Park/Hoobastank/POD/Story of the Year

Staind (I don't remember who their opening act(s) was/were)

Corbin Bleu/Aly & AJ/Drake Bell/Bianca Ryan

Jonas Brothers

Mandy Moore
/Rachael Yamagata

and the many, many oldies concerts I've seen at Epcot (my favorites have been Davy Jones (at least 3 or 4 times) and BJ Thomas (twice I think))

and some local concerts of some local bands back in Massachusetts

Who I'd like to see:
Hanson, Corbin Bleu, Mandy Moore, and the Jonas Brothers again!

Backstreet Boys (they're the only band who I haven't seen that I'd LOVE to see live!)

Jessica Simpson (she's the only solo artist who I haven't seen that I'd LOVE to see live!)

Christina Aguilera, Ashlee Simpson, Hilary Duff, Avril Lavigne, Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens, and maybe Cheyenne Kimball would all be cool to see, too.

Since my last posting some of the bands that I have seen in concert include:

311 - They were awesome. I really like their stage presence.

Crossfade - They were the opening band for another group -

Hinder - and together this was a first rate show.

Seether - drove these guys around town during the day, and was treated to the after-party after the concert which I had front row seats for.

Gordon Lightfoot - 'The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' is one of my favorite songs. Gordon sang this and many more of the audiences favorites.

And next week I have tickets to two of the four nights that Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are appearing in concert in Kansas City. I am really getting stoked for this one.

I've only been to one concert. It was for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra at The Forum last year.

I'm seeing them again this year (only one more week!) at the Honda Center.

I'm now adding another Hanson show to my list. The first time I saw them was 1996, before "MMMbop" made them household names. Twelve years later, I saw them again at the House of Blues in Disney World. David Barnes opened.

The only concert I've been to in recent years (I find the hassle usually isn't worth it) was CHER in 2005. She was FABULOUS! :D My favorite live performance is New York theater, but that's another thread!
