UD members who have worked at a Disney Studio / Cast?

Post by landofdisney »

I've recently been listening to an Audio Book of DisneyWar by James B Stewart which I am finding to be one of the most entertaining, revealing books that I have ever come across. I recommend it to everyone (particularly anyone interested in the movie design process or corporate management).

It has got me thinking however, that it would be excellent to have direct communication with past or current Disney employees to get their view of the world and to get some of the more in depth information about the world of Disney that we all love.

So how about it, is there anyone on here who have been involved in the creation of a Disney feature / show / cast member (etc)?

You might really enjoy reading what cast members have to say over here at this forum. it is mostly people who worked at WDW or DL in the past or currently - there's some good discussions here - http://www.micechat.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=26

I used to be a cast member at WDW- Tomorrowland Merchandise in 2004...I left because I wanted a leave of absence to be able to see a doctor (I have tummy problems) & the manager I spoke with said that she'd tell me how...she never did. Later when I asked how to give my notice (I often get tummyaches & it takes a while, about an hour, to get to WDW, so it was a pain to drive all that way when I had to leave early because I wasn't feeling well), she never did. So I just had to leave. Looking back, I could have spoken with another manager (we had a bunch). Only one, the whole time I was there, really cared about me. I had a problem with the management. I've since learned that they work overtime and don't get paid for it, since they're salaried. Still, you should be caring- it's WDW, for crying out loud! When I graduate in December, I'll try to get a job there, but in an air conditioned office (hopefully).

None of that probably answered your question...???

I was offered a job for Disneyland Resort Paris, but sadly, I could not accept it :(

It has always been a huge regret of mine.

Why could you not except it? You don't have to tell us if it's too personal. Is it because you were too young or would have to move from the U.K.?

Was there a way you could have done it anyway?

I've written for several Disney television shows, many of which were at the Disney Studio in Burbank. Even though I'm very often less than pleased with the Disney management, it's still an incredible thrill to walk onto that lot which I used to see all the time on The Wonderful World of Disney.
